We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Taryn Mason, who for the past twenty years has been a pillar of student wellness in our community. As the Regional School Health Coordinator for both the Copper Country ISD and Gogebic-Ontonagon ISD , Tarynâs dedication has created a lasting, positive impact on countless students and educators.
Taryn has been a driving force for progress, shifting the focus from physical health alone to comprehensive student wellness. Her incredible legacy includes establishing school wellness teams in districts across our region, implementing the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model to better support students, training numerous teachers in vital programs like the Michigan Model for School Health and Mental Health First Aid, and collaborating on grant applications that brought hundreds of thousands of dollars to support children in our communities. Taryn has been a fierce and effective advocate for children in the Western U.P., and our entire educational community is better for her service.
While we will miss her in this role, we are thrilled that she will continue serving our community as the CCMH Institute Director. The torch for Coordinated School Health responsibilities has been passed to Chris Schuldt, and we look forward to continuing this important work.
Please join us in the comments below to thank Taryn for her two decades of exceptional service and wish her the very best in her next chapter!
