•••Feel Good Friday•••
“I am a new person, a better person, and a stronger person because I made the choice to have this surgery. I made the choice that it was time for a change. I have not looked back other than the pictures of how I used to look.”

"Before going any further, let me tell you my reason for wanting to have the surgery. I wanted to first feel better and have more energy. Not that I really felt bad or had any medical problems, yet. Then my next goal was to have a healthy long lasting life. My family has had medical problems that may or may not have been from a direct result of obesity and I wanted to avoid this at all cost. Finally, I wanted to feel better about the way I looked. Not that I really care what other people think, but more for me. And for anyone who knows me they know that once I make up my mind to do something I am 110% committed in getting what I want, so after discussions with my wife and family I was ready. When starting the two week diet before surgery I was pushing 340lbs probably the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I remember thinking while getting undressed to put the wonderful hospital gown on, “There is still time to change my mind, is this truly what I want?” I looked at myself in the mirror and I didn’t like what I saw, again not what I looked like physically, and not necessarily the person I was in this moment, but more the person I knew I was going to become if I didn’t do this for myself, my family and my future. The staff at Physician’s Medical were absolutely amazing. Although I wasn’t feeling well they made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The nurses checked on me consistently and let me know I was doing fine. Well over the next 11 months the pounds just started coming off, and on my most recent visit I was 99.9lbs down from the day of my surgery and I feel healthier than ever, more energy than I can ever remember. I am now 217lbs. and still losing. I look at pictures from before the surgery where I hated how I looked in pictures, and now I don’t mind so much. I feel better about myself. I went from a 2XL, sometimes 3XL shirt to a Large, I was in a 46” waist jeans, now a 36”. My wedding ring had to be sized from a 13 to a 10. About the only thing I could wear from before the surgery is my socks/shoes and hats…..everything else has been replaced. Was the surgery worth it? Not only was it worth it, but I probably add several years to my life by making these changes. Was it easy? Absolutely not. Is it getting easier? Yes, but every day I am tempted to eat more than I should or eat things that I shouldn’t. If you are considering the surgery, and if you have read this testimonial, I hope you learned the most important thing in all of this; make sure you have support. From my first consult until today I have all the support and love that I needed to get through these life changes. I am a new person, a better person, and a stronger person because I made the choice to have this surgery. I made the choice that it was time for a change. I have not looked back other than the pictures of how I use to look. For me, it was the best decision I could have ever made. I am able to do things now that I never thought I would be able to do, like going to Disney World for a week and not feeling tired or winded from walking literally 85 miles in 7 days, and it was literally just a walk “In the Park”. And this was just the first year of the changes, I am happy with the way I look, feel and the weight that I am, and I think I am starting to plateau with my weight loss and that is ok, but if I lose a little more that is ok too, now comes the next part of the journey and that is going to be to maintain and keep the weight off. With the support that I have I am confident that I am ready."
