Hugs💚💚💚

Hugging someone for 20 seconds is enough to trigger the release of oxytocin.
Oxytocin lowers cortisol, reduces blood pressure, and calms the nervous system.
A 3-second side-hug does not do this. The duration matters.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina studied the effects of warm physical contact between partners. Participants who received frequent hugs had significantly higher oxytocin levels and lower blood pressure and heart rate compared to those who did not.

A separate study found that even brief periods of warm contact, when sustained long enough to feel the other person's breathing rhythm, activated parasympathetic nervous system responses and reduced cortisol.

The 20-second threshold keeps appearing across studies because that is approximately how long it takes for the neurochemical cascade to begin. Shorter contact registers socially but does not reliably trigger the hormonal shift.

This is not about romance. Friends, family, children, even sustained contact with a pet can activate similar pathways.

In my practice, I have had patients whose blood pressure improved when they started spending more time with their grandchildren. When they started hugging longer instead of waving from across the room.

Physical connection is not just emotional comfort. It is a measurable cardiovascular intervention.

Hug longer. Hold on. Let the chemistry happen.

With all the busyness of the past few months, I didn’t even realize that Yoga Room has passed our 3 Year Mark….it happened quietly in March.

My Heart is Soooo Full❤️

When I first started this journey, it felt a little bittersweet. I wasn’t even sure I truly wanted to own another business at this time of my life….I just knew I wanted to continue to Share Yoga. It had changed my life in such a deep way, and all I hoped was to bring that same feeling to others.

And now… here we are.

Overflowing with blessings, friendships, and a beautiful community I never could have imagined.✨

To those of you who have been with us from the beginning,
to those who joined along the way,
and to those who may still be thinking about walking through our doors…

THANK YOU.

This space has become so much more than yoga. It’s connection. It’s healing. It’s laughter. It’s movement that keeps our bodies healthy and a calmness that brings peace to our minds in a world that truly needs it.

And this recent expansion… something I never imagined… feels like the sweetest gift. A little “cherry on top” that simply allows us to welcome even more of you into this space we’ve created together.
