Volunteers in Medicine of Cape May County is a partner in Volunteers in Medicine of South Jersey (along with our Atlantic County Clinic). VIMofCMC has been caring for the underserved of this area since March of 2002. We serve the uninsured (that niche population that makes $1 too much for NJ Family and not enough to be able to purchase insurance out of pocket) and those who are bridging the gap toward insurance. Our patients often have two jobs and are trying to make sure that their lights stay on and their families are fed. They shouldn’t have to worry about their health issues too.
That’s where we come in.
VIM provides free primary and specialist care to our patients at no charge to them. We are able to provide this care by being funded by grants, fundraising, our thrift store and the generosity of our community.
Volunteers are the heart of this clinic and we are fortunate to have wonderfully dedicated volunteer healthcare providers, nursing staff, administrative personnel and gardeners. Giving back to the community is paramount to our volunteers. VIM also offers it’s patients access to a Community Garden in which we grow an assortment of Spring, Summer and Autumn vegetables. The entire crop of the garden goes to our patients in order to encourage healthy eating habits and lessen the out of pocket cost of trying to do so.
