The whole month of June, me and 14 of my V-Fit members participated in a Myzone fitness challenge against 10 other gyms across the United States. These other gyms are my colleagues who are in the Todd Durkin Mastermind, as well as myself.
I am so proud of my members for finishing at the TOP! 🏆
Congrats to ALL of my colleague’s teams as well. Thank you for pushing my members out of their comfort zones! 🙂
Here are my top takeaways from this challenge:
▶️ Competition raises your game up a notch.
Man did my members step-up! I put a little pressure on them by telling them to exercise at least 5 days a week, MINIMUM. Most of them well exceeded that number! We even had members ON OUR OWN TEAM competing against one another! Competition can do that, and make you rise up to the next level.
▶️ If it’s important to you, you make the time. If it’s not you make excuses.
It’s funny how when the bar was raised and it became important to them, most in my group not only made time to exercise, but on some days made even MORE time to do it. They didn’t use work, injuries or busy life schedules as excuses. I always say, if it’s important to you, you MAKE time. It doesn’t just magically appear, and it never will. No excuses.
▶️ Leaders need to lead by actions. Talk is cheap.
At the beginning of the challenge, one of my friends said to me, “That’s cool you are doing a team challenge. Now you can sit back and let your members do all the work.” 🙂
There is nothing wrong with this strategy and thinking.
But I knew if I was going to hold my team accountable to a higher standard, I needed to hold myself accountable as well.
I knew if my members saw me pushing thru when I really didn’t have to, this would raise their games as well.
Actions speak louder than words!
