💛Half Splits, or Ardha Hanumanasana, is a stretch for the whole body that can cater to most bodies as a beginner friendly pose. 🐒
✨The benefits to the lower body include:
-Stretches hamstrings & glutes.
-Relieves sciatic pain & piriformis syndrome.
-Lengthen tissues around the knee joints.
✨The benefits to the upper body include:
-Stretch the lower back.
-Improve posture.
- Encourage diaphragmatic breathing.
💫Variation options for Half Splits:
This pose can be practiced with blocks (as pictured above by Sarah) at any height to help lengthen the spine and stretch deeper into the outer hip muscles. You may like to always use blocks, or explore this pose without blocks, making sure you keep your spine straight and avoid rounding the shoulders. 😊
The front toes stay flexing up towards the ceiling to lengthen the back of the leg, but you can always allow a slight bend in the front knee to release tension in the hamstring (back of thigh). 😌
