Let’s starting expanding your child’s dietary repertoire today!
1. Distraction-free family mealtimes allow for increased opportunity for exposure and modeling. Even if not eating all the foods presented, being at the table with others allows your child to learn about the food by seeing it, smelling it, touching it, or even trying a small bite.
2. Meal preparation is a simple, non-pressure way to expose your child to new foods. Enjoy time together exploring ingredients with your senses: what it looks like, feels like, smells like, or even tastes like.
3. It is common for a child to refuse or not like a new food on the first attempt. Don’t give up on it! It can take up to 10 times for one’s body to learn about a new food. Keep presenting it in non-pressure ways.
