Women’s Health Month! What do you use for your menstrual cycle? Good menstrual hygiene practices are essential to gynecologic health, mental health, social connections, and career performance. Lack of proper menstrual hygiene can lead to poor health both physically and mentally. Therefore, it is best to use the product that fits your lifestyle and preference! Explore the options here. Pads, the most commonly used product, are praised for their ease of use but criticized for their environmental impact due to their plastic content. Tampons offer discretion and are suitable for active lifestyles, yet they carry a rare risk of toxic shock syndrome if not changed regularly. Menstrual cups are gaining popularity for their cost-effectiveness over time and lower environmental footprint, although they may require a period of adjustment to find the perfect fit. Period panties have also shown to be environmentally friendly, but some find the thought uncomfortable or become irritated with extra wash loads. Ultimately, the choice depends on personal preference, comfort, and values regarding health and sustainability. Do what’s best for you!

During this Women’s Month I did a thing! I went out for a drink... and YES, while BREASTFEEDING. 🍼🥂 Is it safe for mothers to breastfeed their infant if they have consumed alcohol? I had my one drink then I was done, and it was WORTH IT! Yes, it is true...not drinking alcohol is the safest option for breastfeeding mothers. But drinking alcoholic beverages is not an indication to stop breastfeeding. 🚫🍷 Generally, moderate alcohol consumption by a breastfeeding mother (up to 1 standard drink per day) is not known to be harmful to the infant, especially if the mother waits at least 2 hours after a single drink before nursing. 🕒 Now do not go overboard! Going above moderate levels can lead to poor development, growth, and sleep patterns for your infant. Thankfully, I have restraint! One was just enough :-)
