We just had the most depressing July 4th weekend ever. We watched the news all weekend hoping for a happy ending that never came. The pain, anguish and grief these families are feeling now is unfathomable. Our thoughts and prayers are with the familes.

I am hearing all about everyone's wonderful vacations and I am jealous. I don't get to go anywhere until mid-July. The heat and humidity is a miserable combination. Could you imagine living in Houston before air conditioning? As expected, the mold spore counts are extremely high right now. The mosquitos are bad due to the rain. If you can dump out any standing water it will help decrease the mosquitos. If you have a water trough for animals, a few goldfish will eat the mosquito larvae so they don't become mosquitos.

As expected , the mold spore counts are extremely high today after the rain. As long as there is water in the drainage ditches the mold counts will be high. However, ghe grass and w**d pollen counts are low because the rain knocked it all down to the ground. Also the African dust is low because of the rain. have a great Father,s day weekend!

06/09/2025

Grass and w**d pollens, and mold spores are all medium. This rain should increase the mold counts over the next few days. The mornings are nice, but it is starting to heat up in the afternoon. Be careful and stay hydrated!

Tree counts are dropping! Grass w**d and mold spore counts are all medium. This is about the best break you are going to get in Houston from outdoor allergens. Go out and have some fun!

Pollen and mold counts are all medium. Limiting outdoor activities helps. Also use your nasal steroid spray. There are alot of people getting upper respiratory illness which morphs into sinusitis. I caught it last week. Over the easter weekend it went into my chest. I had to start nebulizer treatments and added steroids to my antibiotic. If you are starting to have any of these complaints I would recommend coming in early and getting it treated. Tree pollen is still out there, mostly pecan now.

Tree pollen is very high right now. Minimize outdoor activities as much as possible. Take your Flonase, Azelastine and hydroxyzine as prescribed. You can add in Zyrtec or Claritin s needed. If symptoms persist come see me. A round of steroids will help and may prevent a sinus infection. Salt water nasal irrigation helps wash all the pollen and mucous out of your nose. It sounds nasty be feels pretty good when your finished.

Breating in cold air will cause a bronchospasm in asthmatics. Wear a scarf or face mask covering your nose and mouth while outside in cold weather. As you breath through the material it will warm and humidify the air and prevent the bronchspasm.

02/18/2025

My nose was running, congested and sneezing this weekend. The trees are starting to release pollen. Cedar, Elm and Pine are high now. Oak, Ash, Pecan and Privet have not started yet. Yes, I have allergies. They say that doctors choose their specialty depending on medical conditions they or their family suffer from. I am just thankful I am not a psychiatrist.

02/04/2025

Pollen counts for today show cedar is medium and mold spores are high. Elevated mold spores are due to the warmer temps and increased humidity.

01/28/2025

Enjoy the break from pollen counts. Everything is low to negative. Mold spores are low to medium. Tree season will start in mid-February so get ready.

We have freezing weather coming next week. Make sure all of your outdoor water Fawcetts are insulated. Broken pipes can cause your home to flood. Mold will follow any water damage.
