What if you woke up tomorrow and all of your troubles were gone?

In therapy, we call this the Miracle Question. It sounds simple, but I’ve seen it stump some of the most capable people I know. Why? Because we spend so much energy solving everyone else's problems that we forget to define what our own "Rich Life" actually looks like.

I just published my first blog post over on my website about this very idea—and why deciding what you want is often the hardest (and most important) step in healing.

If you're tired of living inside your problems and are ready to start finding your solutions, let’s talk.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been active on this page, but I’ve been busy behind the scenes doing the work I love most. I’m excited to share that I am back in private practice full-time.

I love working with trees and can't help that my relationship with nature often makes it into my therapy sessions. Just as a tree requires patience, nutrition, and occasional pruning to thrive, our mental health often requires the same.

My work is spiritually-informed, and I believe therapy should honor your unique search for meaning. Whether you ground yourself through traditional faith, creativity, or a connection to nature, I provide a space where your spiritual journey is a vital part of your healing.

What’s happening now:

In-Person & Virtual: I’m seeing clients at my office near N Loop and TC Jester on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with virtual options Monday through Friday.

Thursday Recovery Group: Our community group has found a beautiful rhythm over the last few months. It’s a grounded space for those looking for deeper connections with like-minded people.

Insurance Openings: I have opened a limited number of spots for clients looking to use their Cigna or Aetna insurance benefits. You can verify your benefits at the link here: https://www.rscounselingservices.com/pricing

I’m glad to be back and look forward to reconnecting with you all.

So last week I ran the Spartan Beast 21k. This was my 7th spartan race and my 2nd trifecta, yet somehow was one of the hardest races I've ever run. This makes me question why I even do this to myself. Well, here are my reasons for those curious enough to keep reading.

1. It motivates me. I've never been the strongest, the fastest, or the toughest guy out there. My physique has always been middle of the road at best. I have to fight, push and earn every ounce of muscle on my body- which still isn't much. Obstacle runs give me a reason to train and a reason to want to be fit and in shape.

2. It tests me. It's easy to be complacent, and easy to assume "I could never do that." While racing last week, there were obstacles I looked at and thought "Nope- no way I'll make it." Yet I tried, jumped, climbed, and omg, I did the thing. These races have been a stark reminder for me that we never know what we are capable of until we push ourselves to try.

3. It gets me outside. I spend far too much time indoors. Even when I travel I go to restaurants, museums and other commercial establishments. I love getting to see the awesome landscapes these locations have to offer. Next year, I hope to run 3 more races and complete another trifecta. I'm super stoked to travel around the country to see what other landscapes I can conquer.

Had a wonderful opportunity to ride through the Santa Monica mountains earlier this month. The breathtaking views combined with the exciting twisty roads is something I won't ever forget. Looking forward to my next mountainous adventure, wherever that may be.

I often urge my clients to find something that reminds them how boundless the universe really is. Its easy to forget about the miracle that is own human existence. I feel that if we can just capture this belief- one of openness and of curiosity- it is that much easier for our problems to fade into the background. Is there something that reminds you of the perfection that exists within out own reality?

Bonsai trees have been my favorite hobby I picked up during covid. My trees have provided me with a constant source of entertainment through all of the shutdowns and seclusion. I never would have anticipated I could get so much out of such a simple practice. On days that I am feeling the most antsy, restless, and uncomfortable, spending time repotting, wiring or even just looking at my trees provides me with a sense of groundedness and comfort I could have never anticipated. Caring for these guys has now become something I look forward to each and every day. Not to mention how much I've learned about plants and nature along the way!

I don't like running. I don't even like how I feel after running. It hurts. It makes me tired. However, I like that running improves my mood gradually over time. The only reason I know this is because of what my past experience has taught me. This is the main reason I run.

It was hard getting moving yesterday. I did not like how I was feeling or what I was thinking, so I made myself move. The more I NEED my mind to move, the more I know I have to move my body to make that happen.

I've really enjoyed using this new outdoor space for my sessions. I'm starting to think of all the cool experiential groups that could be hosted out here. Flow jam? Yoga class? Aikido demonstrations? Yes please!
