Aveanna is proud to recognize World Heart Day, a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and encourage communities to advocate for heart health. 2025 is especially unique because it marks the 25th anniversary of World Heart Day.

According to the World Heart Federation, CVD kills over 20 million people each year. However, 80% of premature deaths from CVD can be prevented by simple changes to diet, exercise, and stress management.

This year's theme for World Heart Day is "Don't Miss a Beat," an initiative to raise awareness for the fact that so many people are missing out on time with loved ones due to early deaths as a result of CVD.

International Day of Sign Languages is a time for us to empower the deaf community and showcase the importance of sign languages, and Aveanna is thrilled to show our support.

Meet Dulce, one of our Aveanna therapy patients who is discovering her voice through her new Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device!

During her first trial with her device, she lit up with joy as she played games and requested her favorite Disney princess songs, especially Moana! Her mom shared that this was the first time she truly felt Dulce could communicate, making this milestone even more meaningful. None of this would be possible without the dedication and support of her speech therapist, Stanley, whose patience and expertise are helping Dulce unlock her voice.

Congratulations to Jordynn, one of our newest Aveanna therapy graduates!

Over the years Jordynn has been with her Aveanna therapy team, she worked on head control, mobility, and eventually progressed to navigating the community independently with and without her gait trainer. Through all her therapy milestones, PT Peter and PTA Aaron were by her side, ensuring she and her family had the support they needed to navigate the healthcare system, learn about new diagnoses, and obtain appropriate referrals and equipment. Over the last year that Jordynn worked with PTA Aaron, she improved her safety awareness, balance, and independence! She ultimately met all of her long-term goals that were made with her family when they started her care.

"I am very proud of Jordynn's progress and am excited for her to continue to develop in school and in the community after her journey at Aveanna," said PT Peter. "We can't wait to see all that she'll do with her newfound independence!"
