The protests occur in the framework of the world day for the Liberation of Cannabis.

Thousands of people worldwide took to the streets, asking different governments to legalize cannabis.

The demonstrations take place within the framework of the world day for the Liberation of Cannabis, and the regulation of this substance is called for, which, until now, has been penalized for those who carry or manufacture it.

Likewise, associations in favor of legalization say that it is a reality that governments cannot ignore and that prohibition only leads to problems such as micro-trafficking and violence. (El Tiempo, 2023)

The transformation of the cannabis industry in Texas: a near reality at the hand for the state

Texas is one of the largest states in the United States, with a population of more than 29 million people and a constantly growing economy. In recent years, one of the issues that has been in the spotlight in Texas is the use of cannabis. (Cannabis World Journals, p44, edition 45)

Although most states in the US have legalized the medicinal and recreational use of cannabis to some degree, Texas still maintains significant restrictions on its use. (Cannabis World Journals, p44, edition 45)

Texas: the two faces of the cannabis industry

The Texas cannabis industry could be a completely different reality than what we currently know. Currently we see that we still have a lot of limitations for patients, despite some changes like HB 1805 from Rep. Klick. Even if approved by the Senate, there is still a restriction on the amount of THC that medical cannabis can contain. The other side of this industry could be a reality where it was not the norm, but health professionals who could freely decide the exact formulation and dose of THC to treat any condition. (Cannabis World Journals, p33, issue 45)

This would allow greater access for patients, as well as open the door for more and more conditions to be treated with cannabis instead of opioids. The consequences would be a decrease in the rate of abuse and negative consequences of prolonged use of opioids and a better quality of life for people. (Cannabis World Journals, p33, edition 45)

Benefits of investing in cannabis research

Clinical medical cannabis research has many benefits, however, it continues to be affected by long-standing regulations and a dearth of investment programs for its development. (Cannabis World Journals, 2023)

Recently, the topic of cannabis research has been of great interest, especially as the state of California has awarded approximately $20 million to 16 state universities to conduct scientific research on cannabis and various topics (mental health, delta-8, and delta-10). In addition, California will fund $2.7 million for research on the genetic and cultural legacy of cannabis (Cannabis World Journals, 2023).

Now, scientific research not only helps to understand how medical cannabis works in our body and different diseases, but also allows to determine the safety and efficacy of cannabis-derived treatments and compare it to previously available therapies. (Cannabis World Journals, 2023)

Canada became one of the first countries in the world to legalize the recreational use of cannabis. The measure became a reality in 2018, and since then, it has generated more than 4.5 billion dollars in profits annually, according to figures provided by the EFE agency. (El Tiempo, 2023)

World-renowned companies such as Uber are already joining the new market dynamics since, with its delivery service, it has been offering cannabis through the application for a few months. (El Tiempo, 2023)

For example, the measure has been in place in Toronto since last year. Those over 19 can place their cannabis orders through the UberEats application, with Leafly, an online plant retailer, connecting consumers with dispensaries. (El Tiempo, 2023)

Self-cultivation: the key to the legalization of cannabis

Each region and country has its own regulation and is established in relation to the number of plants per property and person. (Cannabis world Journals, p8, issue 30)

In the last 10 years, the regulation of medical and industrial cannabis has been growing gradually worldwide. Within the policies of each region, self-cultivation has been included and allowed for personal use for recreational and/or medicinal purposes. (Cannabis world Journals, p8, issue 30)

Countries like Colombia and Argentina, among others, began only by authorizing self-cultivation prior to regulating the entire industry. This has allowed many people with degenerative health conditions to have the opportunity to access this alternative medicine, considering that in the market at the time there were no companies or doctors that would formulate treatments with the components of the plant. However, thanks to this advance in public policies, have emerged organizations such as Mamá Cultiva, where they teach mothers to grow cannabis to treat different conditions of their family or friends, from an educational and scientific perspective. After the advances that have been made in terms of opening up to medical cannabis since 2021, this year began with good news for this product. Through resolution 2808 of 2022, the National Government included medical cannabis within the Health Benefit Plan (PBS). (The Republic, 2023)

This means that starting this year, medical cannabis will be covered with public resources, the State recognizing that it is a current, practical, contemporary, and safe alternative for those suffering from different pathologies requiring special treatment. (The Republic, 2023)

"The medical indications for which there is positive evidence on the use of cannabis for its improvement are: fibromyalgia; refractory epilepsy; sleep and appetite disorder; chronic insomnia; chronic pain not associated with cancer; chronic neuropathic pain; chronic pain associated with cancer and cancer cachexia," said Juan Diego Álvarez, vice president of corporate affairs at Clínica Zerenia. (The Republic, 2023)

Tips for seeking investors in the legal cannabis industry

Starting a business in the legal cannabis industry requires a large investment. Some of the expenses that make the investment to start your business become quite high are: The license, the rental costs, the machinery, the adaptations of the place, the salaries of the personnel, the legal fees and more. That is why, many companies that want to start resort to the search for investors who can ease the financial burden. (Cannabis world Journals, p39, issue 30)

Investors - unlike a lender - will not charge you the money invested in installments. They will require payment once the business is up and running and making a profit. This makes many companies decide to seek investors instead of obtaining loans from banks. (Cannabis world Journals, p39, issue 30)

A new way of getting investment is “Crowdfunding” or collective financing. This type of financing allows anyone to invest an amount of money in a company in exchange for having a stake in the business. (Cannabis world Journals, p39, issue 30)

04/20/2023

Fifty-one years ago, a group of friends in California, USA, came up with the idea of using these three numbers to talk about cannabis without being stigmatized. In half a century, ""420″ became a symbol of cannabis culture and the fight for regulation. And April 20, the day when everyone talks about the plant (MADRADIO, 2023).

Although 4/20 celebrations have become popular over the past few years, their origins seem to lie in the 1971 wanderings of a group of friends at San Rafael High School in Northern California. (MADRADIO, 2023)

According to the story they have been telling for the past 20 years, it all started one fall day in 1971, harvest time, when the Waldos, high school students at San Rafael High School, got a tip: a Coast Guard member on the Point Reyes Peninsula could no longer care for their small crop field with (illegal) cannabis plants. (MADRADIO, 2023)

Celebrate this 420 by attending our medical cannabis webinar on April 22 and get 2-for-1 tickets to learn the step-by-step process for obtaining a dispensary license in Texas. Contact +1 (214) 733-0868 or visit http://www.pharmacologyuniversity.com/austin-seminar.
