Your health starts with prevention 🩺
A lot of people skip their yearly physical because they don’t know what it includes, or they don’t think they need it. Here’s what you actually get:
🔵 Vitals & Measurements
Blood pressure, height, weight & BMI are checked at every visit. The physical exam includes blood pressure screening and height and weight measurements to calculate body mass index.
🔵 Health & Family History Review
The medical history focuses on to***co and alcohol use, risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and diet and exercise habits.
🔵 Preventive Lab Work
Based on your age and risk factors, cholesterol, blood sugar, thyroid, CBC and more. A fasting or non-fasting lipid profile is recommended when an adult enters care at a new practice, with rescreening as part of cardiovascular risk analysis every five years.
🔵 Mental Health Screening
The Annual Wellness Visit assesses emotional and psychological well-being, in addition to physical well-being.
🔵 Personalized Prevention Plan
The purpose of the wellness visit is to review the patient’s wellness and develop a personalized prevention plan.
🔵 Vaccine Review
Your doctor reviews which immunizations are due or overdue: flu, Tdap, shingles, pneumonia and more.
🔵 Cancer Screenings (age-based)
Cervical, colorectal, breast, and skin cancer screenings are ordered based on your age and risk profile per AAFP & USPSTF guidelines.
🔵 Medication Review
All current medications are reviewed for safety, interactions, and continued need.
How often should you go?
A physical should be performed once a year for adults ages 19–49, and every year for adults ages 50 and older
Most Annual Exams are covered by Insurance.
