Obesity-
A disorder involving excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems.
Obesity often results from taking in more calories than are burned by exercise and normal daily activities.

Day-to-day problems related to obesity include:
* breathlessness.
* increased sweating.
* snoring.
* difficulty doing physical activity.
* often feeling very tired.
* joint and back pain.
* low confidence and self-esteem.
* feeling isolated.

People with obesity are more likely to develop a number of potentially serious health problems, including: Heart disease and strokes. Obesity makes you more likely to have high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol levels, which are risk factors for heart disease and strokes. Type 2 diabetes.

Obesity is commonly defined as having too much body mass. A BMI of 30 or higher is the usual benchmark for obesity in adults. A BMI of 40 or higher is considered severe (formerly “morbid”) obesity. Morbid Obesity is what City Feet to Beat Obesity is looking for!

What can help with obesity?

1. Healthy eating plan and regular physical activity. Following a healthy eating plan with fewer calories is often the first step in trying to treat overweight and obesity.
2. Changing your habits.
3. Weight-management programs, City Feet to Beat Obesity (nonprofit FREE)
4. Special Diets, Etc.

“When I was working in a large academic institution I cared for the sickest of the sick and deep down I knew there are ways to possibly prevent progression of chronic disease states and to bring the body into a state of homeostasis . I want to help educate the public about ways to stay healthy and prevent illness .
Upon successful completion of Functional Nutrition Certificate I embarked on collaborating with Valencia and working with clients to guide support and educate .

In her program Margo wishes to give the opportunity to learn and grow about how to eat well , support your body’s needs and be the best you . Doing this together we can move mountains”

Childhood Obesity is increasing each year! Let’s be aware this month and try to start healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Let’s get active:
Walking to school, playing during breaks, hiking, going for a walk with a dog, and shortening screen time (less time for TV, phone and computer) walks after dinner, sports, may be recommended for children in order to increase physical activity.

Develop Healthy Eating Habits
Limit Calorie Rich Temptations
Stay Active
Reduce Sedentary time

Remember that small changes every day can lead to success!

*The goal for children who are overweight is to reduce the rate of weight gain while allowing normal growth and development. Children should NOT be placed on a weight reduction diet without the consultation of a health care provider*

Obesity is serious because it is associated with poorer mental health outcomes and reduced quality of life. In the United States and worldwide, obesity is also associated with the leading causes of death, including deaths from diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.Obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers.

A healthy diet and regular physical activity help people achieve and maintain a healthy weight starting at an early age and continuing throughout life.

If your BMI is 30.0 or higher, it falls within the obesity range.

Obesity is frequently subdivided into categories:
* Class 1: BMI of 30 to < 35
* Class 2: BMI of 35 to < 40
