Did you know the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, once worked as a groundskeeper at a historic Catholic cemetery in Pennsylvania? 🌍 While studying at Villanova University, Robert Francis “Bob” Prevost, as he was known then, kept things humble by taking a summer job maintaining St. Denis Cemetery in Havertown.
From mowing lawns to leading millions, Pope Leo XIV’s life of service reminds us that the humblest beginnings can lead to extraordinary paths. 💫

Step back in time 🕰️ On this day in 1913, the iconic Rice Hotel opened its doors in Houston. Built by entrepreneur Jesse Jones, the hotel stood on historic ground once home to the first Capitol of the Republic of Texas. Today, this stunning building, now The Rice, offers luxury apartments—but its history lives on.

🎶 Did you know the roots of "The Eyes of Texas" run over a century deep? First sung at a minstrel show on May 12, 1903, the official song of the University of Texas at Austin was born from a mix of inspiration and tradition. UT President William L. Prather often quoted the adapted line, "The eyes of Texas are upon you," inspired by a phrase from Robert E. Lee during Prather's own college years.
Written by student John Lang Sinclair the night before its debut, the lyrics were set to the tune of "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and premiered to thunderous applause at the Hancock Opera House. The song quickly became a campus staple, played and sung with pride.
To this day, "The Eyes of Texas" endures as a symbol of Longhorn tradition, sung at graduations, events, and even funerals of alums like Prather himself. 💛 What does the song mean to you? Share your favorite memory in the comments below!

How’s this for a fun fact? 🥔 Mr. Potato Head was the first-ever toy advertised on TV, making his big debut on April 30, 1952! Originally, he came as separate pieces to stick onto a real potato (yes, really). Complaints about rotting veggies led to the iconic plastic potato body in 1964.

Pope Francis has found his final resting place in one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks—but how much do you really know about the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major? 🌟
For 16 centuries, this majestic Basilica has stood as a testament to faith, art, and tradition. Nestled atop the Esquiline Hill, it’s the place where history meets legend. According to tradition, the Virgin Mary herself inspired its construction, revealing the site in a miraculous dream. The annual "Miracle of the Snows" celebration commemorates this divine moment, with white petals showering from the ceiling during a moving liturgy. ❄️💒
Inside, the treasures are unmatched. From the revered Salus Populi Romani icon, attributed to Saint Luke the Evangelist, to the relic of the Holy Crib (Baby Jesus’ manger!) and the remains of Saints Matthew and Jerome, this Basilica is a spiritual and artistic masterpiece.
Did you know? The first Christmas night Mass was celebrated here, and Popes have kept that tradition alive for centuries. Now, Pope Francis joins seven other pontiffs laid to rest in this sacred space.

🏈 Did you know? While John Heisman is a name synonymous with college football's most coveted trophy, he also coached the most one-sided game in history. 😮 On October 7, 1916, Georgia Tech crushed Cumberland 222-0, setting a record that still stands today. Talk about a touchdown triumph. 🏆
