The massage involves applying sustained pressure directly to these points using fingers, thumbs, or tools. Practitioners typically hold pressure for thirty seconds to several minutes, which helps release the contracted muscle fibers and restore normal blood flow.

This technique effectively treats chronic pain, headaches, and muscle tension. Active trigger points cause spontaneous pain, while latent ones only hurt when pressed.
