That’s not rare. That’s normal.

In most births, it’s not even noticed until after the baby is born. The cord slips off naturally. No drama. No danger. The umbilical cord is flexible!

But here’s the truth no one wants to say:
“Nuchal cord” gets used as a scapegoat.
As a cover for unnecessary interventions.
As a way to explain outcomes that had nothing to do with the cord.

There’s this idea that if you show up to your birth with a plan, you’re somehow being rigid, dramatic, or “too much.”

But the truth is that not having a plan doesn’t make you go with the flow. It makes you vulnerable to being swept away by someone else’s current.

A birth plan allows you to know your values, understand your options, and decide ahead of time what you’re willing to say yes or no to.

The placenta doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

It delivered oxygen and nutrients. Balanced your hormones. Filtered waste. Protected your baby from infection.

It literally grew with your baby, adapted to their needs, and quietly did its job day in and day out.

Contractions demand our full attention because they’re intense, yes… but what changes everything? Your mindset and your response.

Fighting against contractions can increase fear and adrenaline, which actually slows labor and makes it harder to cope. But when you breathe, soften, and surrender, your body responds by releasing oxytocin and endorphins, nature’s own pain relief.

The more you lean in, the more your body helps you out.

One of the easiest ways to support your labor? Go p*e. Seriously.

Regular trips to the bathroom may not sound glamorous, but they can absolutely make a difference:
✔️ Hydration = stronger, more effective contractions
✔️ Empty bladder = more space for baby to move down
✔️ Sitting on the toilet = signals safety + relaxation to your pelvic floor (and sometimes, surprise progress!)

Take your time, breathe deep, and don’t underestimate the power of the bathroom break.
