The whole “home birth is risky” talk is something we have heard a million times, but the actual data tells a completely different story.

When you look at the research for low risk women it turns out that planning a hospital birth often leads to more interventions and complications without actually improving safety for mom or baby. In fact large scale studies show that planning a hospital birth can significantly increase your chances of things like serious bleeding or infection and it makes you more likely to end up with a c-section or an episiotomy.

The study (linked below) even points out that there is no evidence that hospital births are safer for low risk women. Instead we see that home birth drastically reduces the “cascade of interventions” while keeping outcomes just as safe.

Home birth isn’t a trend, but a research backed choice for anyone wanting a physiologic birth.

These aren’t just “opinions” to me. They are the pillars of how I show up for every family that invites me into their space. I stand on these hills so you don’t have to fight for them.

To the ones who make the 3 AM wake-up calls worth it💘

Usually, Valentines are for significant others, but ask any midwife and they’ll tell you: we’ve got a pretty special “relationship” with our clients.

We’ve seen you at your strongest, navigated the late-night texts together, and witnessed the literal magic you’re capable of. So, we made some cards just for you.

If we’ve had the honor of being your “Ride or Dilate” and you loved your experience, it would mean the world to us if you’d leave us a review!

It has one job, and it’s going to do it, whether you’re ready or not! 😅

Transition is the shortest part of labor, but it’s definitely the part where the “I’m done” thoughts take over. If you feel like this video, take note: it means your baby is almost in your arms. 🥰

You aren’t a student, and birth isn’t a final exam. But unfortunately society has conditioned us to believe that birth is a medical emergency waiting to happen. Or that it is a complex procedure we need to “master.”

Here’s the truth: You don’t need to be taught how to dilate. What you do need is:
• To understand the physiology of how your body works.
• To be in a space where you feel safe and unobserved.
• A team that supports you instead of managing your every move.

My role as a midwife isn’t to give you a play-by-play or tell you when to move. You already have that map inside you.

How would it feel to be supported instead of managed?

It’s a common misconception that home birth is the “trendy” choice. Or it’s women who are “anti-hospital. But in a recent study of US women, the number one reason families choose home birth is to avoid unnecessary interventions.

The study found that the top reasons women stay home are feeling safer, avoiding “routine” interventions that aren’t always necessary, and simply wanting to be in a familiar space where they are in control.

What was the one thing that made you feel most “safe” during your labor? Let’s chat in the comments. 👇

Home birth is a shift in power. It’s moving from a system where you are managed and treated like a template to a trusted relationship where you are seen, heard, and respected.

If you’re realizing that you want to be the one making the calls for your body and your baby, you’ve already taken the first step toward home birth.

Does it feel like you’re the one in charge of your care right now? If not, what would change if you were? 👇

Sadly most birth plans are simply a list of basic human rights that clash with standard hospital efficiency.

In the medical model, you are often presenting your plan to a room of strangers who are seeing your desires for the first time while you’re in active labor.

In the Midwifery model:
• Your plan is discussed at every prenatal visit.
• Your midwife knows your fears, your hopes, and your “no-gos” months in advance.
• We don’t “allow” your plan; we protect it.

Did you feel like your birth plan was respected, or was it treated like a “polite suggestion”? Let’s hear your experience below. 👇

It’s hard to trust a process you’ve never witnessed.

When you choose a provider who is uncomfortable with the “wait and see” nature of true labor, you often end up with:
• Unnecessary time limits.
• Pressure for early induction.
• Interventions “just in case.”

The Midwife Difference:
Physiological birth isn’t something we just “allow” because it is our specialty. Safeguarding the natural process is fundamental to the midwifery model of care.

What “safeguarding” actually looks like:
• Patience: Knowing that labor has its own unique rhythm and doesn’t follow a standardized hospital chart.
• Protection: Creating a space where you feel safe, which allows your hormones (like oxytocin) to flow freely.
• Presence: Watching for the subtle signs of health rather than just waiting for a complication to occur.
• Expertise: Knowing the difference between a “slow” normal labor and a true medical necessity.

Work with an expert who trusts the process as much as you do. Hire a midwife.

There’s nothing quite like the “blank stare” you get when a provider has to scroll through pages of digital notes just to remember who you are. Pregnancy is one of the most transformative times of your life, and you aren’t just a 15-minute time slot.

Midwifery care differs greatly because our prenatal appointments aren’t just medical check-ins. They are the building blocks of a deep, trusting relationship. We know your story, your fears, and exactly how you want your birth to feel. We remember the names of your older kids. We remember why you were nervous last month. We remember your birth goals without looking at a printout.

When you feel safe and seen, you can labor with confidence. That’s the power of the midwifery model of care.
