Right now, many licensed midwives in Texas feel like they are being treated with suspicion instead of fairness, despite years of education, training, accountability, and service to women across this state.
If midwifery has impacted your life in a positive way, this is the time to talk about it. Share your story. Share your experience. Share why access to midwifery care matters to your family.
There are thousands of Texas families who can tell you exactly why midwifery matters. And we need those voices.
Your voice carries weight.
WAYS TO HELP:
1. Write the Texas Attorney General
Please consider reaching out to Attorney General Ken Paxton and sharing your personal birth experience. Explain how midwifery care impacted you and your family, and why access to Licensed Midwives matters to Texans.
Ask the Attorney General’s office to support fair treatment of midwives and to stop what many perceive as an unfair targeting of the profession. Midwives deserve the same fairness and respect afforded to other licensed professionals in Texas.
