🎨 The Color Monster Fun in Speech!
💙❤️💜💛🩷🖤🧡💚

This week in therapy, we used The Color Monster to help children understand and express their feelings through play, art, and communication. 💬
They sorted emotions, acted them out, and even made their own colorful monsters! 🧩

✨ Try this at home:
Ask your child, “What color is your feeling today?” and draw or paint it together 🎨

Each activity helps build emotional vocabulary, self-awareness, and social connection — one color at a time. 🌈

Who knew therapy could be this squishy and fun? 😄
At Personal Touch Therapy, we love using Play-Doh to help little ones build strength, coordination, and creativity all while having a blast!

💡 In-Therapy Favorites:
👋 Roll, pinch, and squish for hand strength and coordination
🦕 Make animals and talk about their colors, sounds, and actions
🍕 Create “pretend food” for turn-taking and pretend play
🔤 Form letters, numbers, or shapes for early learning

🏠 Fun Carryover Ideas for Home:
🌟 Hide small toys in the dough for a “treasure hunt” to work on fine motor skills
🧁 Make Play-Doh cupcakes and talk through the steps — great for sequencing and language!
🎨 Pick a daily theme — ocean, farm, or space — and let your child’s imagination lead the way!

Because therapy works best when it feels like play! 💕

🎨✨ Therapy is more fun when it’s hands on and hands clean! ✨🎨

Our patients are kicking off their sessions with a little color and a lot of excitement! 💗💛💚💙💜

Each child gets to pick their color hand sanitizer, and with it comes a fun question, movement, or challenge to break the ice! From sharing something that makes them smile 😄 to showing off their favorite movement 💪, it’s a creative way to start each session with laughter, confidence, and connection.

🧙‍♀️ Balance on one foot like a superhero 🦸‍♂️
🕷️ Crawl through an obstacle course like a sneaky spider
🍬 Toss beanbags or candy corn into buckets for coordination
🦇 Jump over “bat” pillows for leg strength
🎈 Play balloon volleyball to boost endurance and focus

🎃 Spooktacular OT Fun! 👻
Halloween is the perfect time to sneak in some “treats” for fine motor, sensory, and coordination skills! 🍬🕷️

Here are some boo-tiful activities to try at home or in therapy sessions:
🧡 Pumpkin Tongs Game – Use tongs to pick up mini pumpkins or cotton balls (“ghosts”) to strengthen those hand muscles!
🕸️ Spider Web Rescue – Tape yarn or string across a doorway and let your child use tweezers or tongs to free toy spiders—great for bilateral coordination!
💜 Monster Slime Mix-Up – Stir and squeeze slime with glitter or beads to boost tactile tolerance and fine motor control.
🖤 Mummy Wrap Race – Wrap dolls or stuffed animals in toilet paper to practice motor planning and control.
💚 Ghost Bowling – Use empty bottles decorated like ghosts for some spooky gross motor fun!

At home or in therapy, these Halloween OT activities build strength, coordination, and creativity all while having a fang-tastic time! 🦇✨

Halloween is the perfect time to make speech therapy magical, silly, and full of learning! 🧙‍♀️🕸️

Here are some fun + enriching speech activities to try in sessions and at home! 🏠💜

🧡 1. Pumpkin Talk & Tell – Have your child describe their pumpkin! (shape, color, face, size) 🎃
💬 Target: adjectives, describing words, sentence length

💜 2. Witch’s Brew Word Soup – Mix pretend “ingredients” for speech sounds (“3 spiders for /s/!” “2 bats for /b/!”) 🕷️🧪
💬 Target: articulation, phonemic awareness

💚 3. Trick-or-Treat Vocabulary Hunt – Hide mini Halloween toys or pictures and name them as you find them! 🍭👻
💬 Target: labeling, categories, expanding vocabulary
