Self-Compassion September Day 12...I have a trick I use on days where I have to face big challenges, or am simply struggling with feeling good about myself...I put extra effort to make sure I look amazing. The natural tendency is to slump around in a Hoodie but that reinforces our negative self-talk. So go out there on this Monday and know that you are fabulous!

Learn How to Dress for Your Body Shape
Do you feel like nothing in your closet looks right on you? Everything you wear seems to confirm the nasty thoughts you have about yourself.
used to feel this way too—until I realized I’d been dressing in the wrong clothes for my body shape for YEARS.

I was doing what I’d learned from my thrifty mother—buying whatever that was on sale and looked half decent. I chose clothes that I perceived to be a “good deal” instead of what was really right for me.

But lately, I’ve been watching Youtube videos on how to dress for my body type, and after switching to clothes that actually flatter my body shape and opting for quality instead of quantity, I’m starting to appreciate my body more and more—wide shoulders, straight waist, flat butt and all.

So stop punishing yourself for having the body you have. Instead, start dressing in ways that play up your strengths. Trust me, you will learn to appreciate the body you’re in.

In support of Self-compassion September

I owe myself an apology
For all of the times
I tore myself apart

When I neglected my own needs
Lowered my standards
Berated myself
And put myself down.

For the self-sabotage
I continually inflicted upon myself
And the times when I apologised
For being who I was
And expressing myself authentically.

And I owe myself
The permission to start anew.

To forgive myself
For the battles I fought
That weren’t mine to fight
For all of the love
That I failed to give myself

And for the times when I failed to realise
That rather than being broken
I was worthy of value, respect
And beautiful, brilliant things in life
And that how I treated myself
Dictated how others would view me
And in turn, behave towards me
So by showering myself
With love, kindness, forgiveness and respect
In turn, I could pave the way
For others to do the same.

Self compassion September day 8
We can visualize self compassion as a glowing warm light growing from our center. As it fills the self it begins to overflow with loving kindness to those around us, beginning with those we love and trust. But we do not stop here! We continue to grow and as we do our compassion and kindness extends to those who we may be in conflict with--those who have caused us hurt, disappointment, who have been untrustworthy or willingly ignorant.

When we understand that we all suffer the human condition, we all get up each day and do the best we can with the skills and tools we have, the experiences that have shaped us, and the tribe that supports us (or doesnt) we learn that all of us are worthy of compassion.

As you become more comfortable offering loving kindness to yourself, and those you love, consider offering this blessing to someone you are in conflict with:

To Myself:
May I love myself as I am
May I accept myself as I am
May I live at ease with who I am

To My Loved One:
May you love yourself as you are
May you accept yourself as you are
May you live at ease with who you are

To the one with whom I experience conflict or grief:
May you love yourself as you are

I often hear people state that they struggle with self compassion because it seems selfish, to which I reply NO! Not only is it not selfish, it is only through self love that we can fully love all.

Self compassion allows us to be our authentic self, without fear of judgement. It is the process of letting go of this fear that allows us the ability to offer unconditional love to others. As you become more comfortable offering loving kindness to yourself, consider offering this blessing to someone you care about:

May I accept myself as I am
May I live at ease with who I am

To My Loved One:
May you love yourself as you are
