Wayne began to pray and reflect on where he can best serve the Lord and began to recognize the crisis in our world concerning mental health and felt called to focus on men’s mental health.
His favorite part of being a counselor is to provide an atmosphere where his clients can feel validated, encouraged, and safe.

Wayne loves to work with clients whether they are in crisis, navigating trauma, or on a journey of self identity.

When Wayne isn’t at the office, you can find him watching a good movie with his wife or enjoying the outdoors and exploring nature!

Did you know that therapy doesn’t always have to happen in an office? Ali Schmidt in our Rivers Edge Counseling + Wellness Austin office is now offering walk & talk therapy — a chance to process while moving your body outdoors.

Why try it?
🌿 Walking naturally calms the nervous system (brings that prefrontal cortex back online)
🌿 Boosts creativity + deeper thinking
🌿 Refreshing change from our indoor, sedentary lives
🌿 Promotes bilateral stimulation to support processing

Sometimes the best conversations happen side by side. 💛

Katelyn stumbled into counseling as a second or third career after forays in ministry, finance, journalism and medicine. She’s always been drawn toward people and stories, and finds counseling to be a disarming and rewarding place to walk alongside others in their own journeys.

When Katelyn isn’t counseling, you can find her spending quality time with her favorite people: her husband, kids, and her friends as well as reading, running or creating art.

Katelyn enjoys working with those who are struggling to reconcile their faith with the broken reality of life, people in difficult marriages, those healing from past trauma of any nature, as well as anyone desiring to explore how their past is currently affecting their present.

You don’t have to juggle it all. You just have to know what’s worth holding. We would be honored to help you discern that—while walking with you as you set down what no longer serves you.

Heather views counseling as holding space for another person to be completely real about what is going on in their life. She knows it takes courage to be vulnerable and that the healing is worth it.

Heather desires to help her clients realize their worth, embrace their uniqueness, and gain insight into how their past might have affected them. She enjoys seeing her clients be freed from unhelpful thoughts and habits that hold them back.

When Heather isn’t counseling, you can find her playing games with her family, coffee/journaling, and binging her favorite tv show.

Heather enjoys working with people in helping professions as well as individuals experiencing burnout or depression. In addition to this, Heather loves to meet with college students, couples, young adults, and helping people process their trauma while creating a new narrative for their life story.

Narcissism isn’t just a trendy insult or a character flaw. It’s a serious, sometimes dangerous pattern that can destroy relationships, communities, and organizations when unchecked.

But it’s also a pattern that can be understood, navigated, and in some cases, healed.

Whether you’re navigating the effects of narcissism in someone else—or beginning to confront it in yourself—know this:
you are not alone, and there is a path forward.

Grief has no rulebook. 💔
But there are pitfalls that can make the journey harder:
✨ Suppressing emotions
✨ Avoiding support
✨ Rushing the process
✨ Unhealthy coping
✨ Avoiding professional help

In her latest article, Megan Townson reminds us that your grief is valid and your pace is enough. Healing starts with giving yourself permission to feel. 🌱
