Hey there! I’m conducting a research study on understanding the experiences of Black women during pregnancy and after childbirth, focusing on their interactions with healthcare and any challenges they may have faced.
To participate, you must be 18 or older, self-identify as a Black woman, and be currently pregnant or have given birth in the past 18 months and reside in Texas.
If you decide to participate in this study, you will be asked to participate in a 1:1 interview via Zoom for 60 minutes (if you would like to participate in a different way, please let the researcher know).
During the interview, you will be asked questions about:
Your age, gender, and race.
Your experiences in seeking healthcare during pregnancy and postpartum, including any challenges you may have faced.
Any experiences of discrimination, bias, or mistreatment you may have encountered in healthcare settings.
Factors that may have affected your ability to access maternal healthcare services.
Your perceptions of the quality of care you received, including how healthcare providers communicated with and supported you.
Ways you have managed or coped with any challenges faced during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.
Any suggestions you have for improving the care that Black women receive regarding maternal healthcare.
