Repost • You get into a major car wreck. Your car is totaled, the airbags deployed, and you start feeling pain within hours in your neck and back. You might even need to take some time off work.⁣⁣⁣

The friendly adjuster from the at-fault party’s insurance company makes you an offer and asks you to sign a release. She’s so nice, you almost feel guilty for pursuing a bodily injuries claim. “Sure, I’ll sign for $1,500.”⁣⁣⁣

But your head hurts. Your neck and your back feel stiff. Yet, you accepted the offer and signed your life away, forever barred from pursuing a claim or getting your future medical expenses compensated. Meanwhile, the insurance adjuster did a fist pump and cackled maniacally like Large Marge from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.⁣⁣⁣

“No” is a complete sentence that requires zero justification or explanation. No, I will not accept your low offer. No, I will not sign anything. No, I will not speak to you any further without consulting with an attorney. If you are more polite, then add a “thank you” at the end.⁣⁣⁣
