In my 27 years I’ve never seen a doctor or a nurse harm a patient in any way ever. There are great healthcare workers out there, they’re just burnt out I believe. Remember, it’s NOT the patient’s fault, not each others, not the charge, and not even the nurse managers. It goes higher up than that but try to remember why you became a nurse through the noise. Empowering the new nurses will help ease the burden on your shift. Compassion is a nonnegotiable.
Helping people and making money as a nurse can both coexist without guilt or shame don’t believe the nonsense of these corporations when they try to guilt you about wanting more money for your hard work. But, do the work. The patients need you.
