Katie joined Aspenwood in 2023 as a Sales Counselor at The Village of Southampton and became Director of Sales and Marketing at The Village of River Oaks in February 2024. With 18 years in hospitality and a deep passion for serving seniors, she brings strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to excellence during times of transition.

Katie has a proven record of success; she continues to drive growth with thoughtful marketing strategies and personalized service. Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her two daughters, staying active, golfing, and soaking in the outdoors.

Behind the Name Tag: Meet Carlos Guevara - Director of Plant Operations

Carlos Guevara has proudly served as the Director of Plant Operations for Aspenwood for almost 10 years, the last 8 here at The Village of River Oaks. Holding an Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning, Carlos ensures the building remains bright, clean, comfortably cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

His work at The Village of River Oaks has been an incredibly meaningful experience, as he plays a key role in providing residents with a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment.

Outside of work, Carlos enjoys spending time with his two young children, a 5-year-old son who plays T-ball and a 7-year-old daughter who is passionate about dance. He also enjoys gardening and grilling in his free time.

🎨 Art Comes Alive at The Village of River Oaks! 🖼️

This week, our talented residents hosted our very first Art Walk — and what a beautiful experience it was! Seven residents opened their homes to share their incredible artistic creations and personal collections with fellow neighbors. 💫

🧶 One resident knits cozy hats for the homeless — creativity with compassion.
🌍 Several ladies showcased treasured finds from their world travels.
🎨 And one resident, known for always wearing black, filled her apartment with her vibrant original paintings — a true home gallery!

From painting to philanthropy, it was an inspiring celebration of self-expression, storytelling, and community. We’re so proud to live among such creative hearts who Live Life Well®. 💛

Behind the Name Tag: Meet Charmanie Wallace, LVN - Director of Resident Care

With over 23 years of experience in healthcare, Charmanie Wallace is deeply committed to compassionate care and clinical excellence. She began her career in hospital settings at UTMB Galveston and Ben Taub Hospital, where she built a solid clinical foundation before transitioning into senior living over a decade ago.

For the past 11 years, Charmanie has focused on senior care, including the last 3 years with The Village of River Oaks. As Director of Resident Care, she leads a multidisciplinary healthcare team, manages resident assessments and care planning, and ensures safe medication management. Charmanie is passionate about creating a "forever home" for seniors, especially those living with Alzheimer's disease, providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Active with the Alzheimer's Association and a proud member of the Assisted Living Nurse Association, Charmanie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and shopping in her personal time.

Behind the Name Tag: Meet Hayley Benitez - Director of The Parc / Assistant Executive Director

Hayley Benitez joined The Village of River Oaks as Director of The Parc and Assistant Executive Director in August 2024. Her passion for senior living began at age twelve while attending a kids club at the memory care community where her mother worked. Since then, Hayley has gained over many years of experience across Memory Care, Assisted Living, and Independent Living. A Certified Assisted Living Manager, she brings expertise in new community openings, operations, office management, and regional training. Outside of work, Hayley enjoys time on the lake with her husband and their two dogs.

Behind the Name Tag: Meet Christopher Wiley - Executive Director

Chris joined The Village of River Oaks in October 2023, bringing nearly 20 years of senior living leadership experience and a deep passion for serving older adults and their families. A Dallas-Fort Worth native, he has called Houston home for 17 years and enjoys the city’s rich culture and food scene.

After earning a B.S. in Gerontology from the University of North Texas, Chris began his career in a family-run senior living company—and quickly discovered his calling. He’s committed to supporting his team in delivering exceptional service each day. Outside of work, Chris enjoys live music, traveling with his wife, and watching Dallas Stars hockey with his two cats.
