Who wouldn’t want to labor in this room? This was one of those births where mom and dad had records spinning all day and all night to the rhythm of their labor. Mom and dad using every position in the book with their two doula doggies by their side, surrounded by their art and music. Your labor environment can be as unique as you, it only makes your story that more special. 🖼️🎶✨

This will forever be one of my favorite birth stories! Hanah and I connected almost instantly during our interview and knew we were a great fit. She also was my first client using the same midwife and delivering at the same birth center I did with my babies!

Hanah rocked her birth by using a TENS unit, different labor positions, and water immersion for managing the intensity. She was supported so well by her loving husband & mom as her in-laws her rooted her on from the other room! Such a special experience. ✨

Thank you for the love, Hanah! 💗

Babies are born in all kinds of ways. Even when you take the birth class, hire a provider that you trust, and establishing a clear picture of what you want your birth to look like….plans can (and probably will) change.

After an unexpected induction, trying every trick in the book, and letting time and patience take priority, this surprise gender baby girl had her own plan for coming into the world.

Peek dad’s face when he got to announce the gender and it was a GIRL! 😳

I am so proud of my clients for navigating this experience with hope and humility.

I also can’t say enough about the wonderful support and care that Texas Health Harris staff showed my clients. My client had support from nurse midwives, CRNA’s, OBs, and countless other amazing people during their birth experience.

I have yet to have a less-than-stellar experience in the level of patient care at this hospital. And they love doulas enough to let me come into the OR to support my clients!

I’m finding out lately that I’m discovering a new and better version of myself, so it’s time I do a little reintroduction.

Hi, I’m Dancy. I recently left my career in marketing to pursue my passion for serving families as a doula and childbirth educator. Sure, it’s a different kind of work, but it’s where my heart is and I haven’t looked back yet.

I tell people that I’m not in the birth business, I’m in the relationship business. My day-to-day isn’t talking about birthy things with my clients, it’s getting deep and talking about what they’re most excited about, or what they fear most. I aim to build trust. To build confidence. I want my clients to feel fully supported and loved, without judgement, as they enter parenthood. Birth is a transformative event and I’m here to walk alongside you.

Now for the fun stuff 🦄You’ll usually find me with normal-ish hair, or one day I may go purple. My hair, to me, is an extension of who I am and makes me feel confident!

I am a mom of two spunky, vibrant, and confident girls (ages 3 and 2). They were both born with a midwife at a birth center then at home, and were the guiding light to me pursuing this new career.

I am married to a man who’s dreams are never too big, who loves deeply, plays hard, and inspires me every day. He is my person.

When I’m not at a birth, I am doing graphic design, teaching a birth class, listening to a podcast, going for a run, or traveling somewhere new.

Looking for someone to support you? My DMs are always open. 💗

Family-centered birth is a personal decision. For this couple, the Grandmother-to-be was a calm source of strength and reassurance during my client’s labor. Her gentle touch and wisdom brought peace during some of the most challenging moments.

Designing your birth environment includes who you invite into the room. Choose people who will provide you unconditional love, nonjudgmental support, and reassurance that you can achieve the birth of your dreams.

Ever wondered what a home birth planning meeting looks like? I met with this fourth-time mama for a birth plan meeting to discuss her first out-of-hospital birth at home. We toured her home and met her other kids.

Home birth doesn’t have to be this ultra-crunchy thing. It’s a family-centered decision that is unique to their past experiences, trust in their provider, and where they feel most comfortable.

What did we chat about today you ask? Midwife, client, dad, and doula talking through the what-ifs, envisioning what labor will look like out of the hospital, and feeling the confidence of welcoming new life their own home.

Birth can be “wild” and “unpredictable”, but that doesn’t mean it has to be scary.

Having the right team around you to support when there are changes to your birth plan can leave a positive imprint on your birth experience. In fact, I feel that one of my strengths as a Doula is to be prepared for the unknown and providing emotional support during these changes.

This mama had everything according to plan until it didn’t. So sit back and get ready for this whirlwind birth story!

〰️

The morning of this mama’s labor started very slow. She walked to the neighborhood park with her son and mother and took a relaxing bath as her mom washed her hair. [Helloooo oxytocin!] 🥰

After attempting a nap, her contractions really picked up in intensity. Her husband hurried home and they made a plan to go to the midwife’s office to be checked before being admitted to the hospital.

As she arrived, her she went to the bathroom at the midwives’ office and discovered that her water broke. It was only a few minutes later that she said those magic words that every birth worker loved to hear, that she needed to 💩!

Even though the hospital was close by, it wasn’t close enough. Baby was coming fast! So it was decided that right there, on the floor of the bathroom at the midwife’s office, surrounded by her birth team that she would bring her baby boy into the world.

This family fully embraced that their birth plan was changing without much notice. They knew that baby was calling the shots. I’m sure they were a bit uncertain but they trusted in their providers to safely care for them no matter the birthing location.

After birth, they pivoted again and recovered at the birth center instead of going to the hospital.

One of my favorite periods is the golden hour, a period where mama, baby, and daddy get to slow down, bond, and breathe. They sure needed that, especially for this whirlwind birth story.

I am so proud of this mama and this family for going with the flow, despite the intensity. I am honored to be your Doula!
