Purple Songs Can Fly

Positively affecting the lives of pediatric cancer patients through the writing, recording and sharing of their original songs.

These children are given a highly creative, much needed musical environment to express the many thoughts and feelings that emerge during this time. They are then able to share their music with friends and family in the form of individual CD recordings of their songs. Because music and singing are known to be beneficial in the healing process, we hope that the process of creating, singing and recor

ding original songs will provide health benefits in addition to a sense of pride and joy. Purple Songs not only can fly, but do fly. The children’s songs are copied on purple CDs and flown by participating passengers, pilots or astronauts to places on earth and into space. The CDs then fly back to Houston, signed, with all journey information included. As the dreams, wishes, thoughts, feelings, and imaginations of these children take wing through the creativity of music, Purple Songs Can Fly envisions that soaring, flying, and rising above the obstacles of illness can truly become a reality as each Purple Song creates a tangible symbol for the hope of healing.

For the December General Meeting, we were so grateful to have Anita Kruse of Purple Songs Can Fly. Our new Song/Video, "ALL THE GOLDEN THINGS", will be a part of a new Film Festival in Houston, UPLYFT Film Festival, that will focus on short films featuring non-profit organizations, Saturday, August 17, 2024, 11am-5pm at the Esperson Building downtown. (18 year olds and up).💜
