Effective tomorrow, March 19, 2020, Diagnostic Eye Center will only be open for emergency and post-operative visits. All routine appointments will be cancelled. If you have an appointment in the coming weeks, you will be getting a phone call from our office informing you of the cancellation. We will not be rescheduling any appointments at this time. Our office will continue to reassess the situation as it evolves and will notify patients when we reopen for routine visits.

Our office hours will be reduced to 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Fridays.

If you have an appointment for a post-operative visit but do not feel comfortable coming to our office, please call us. One of our doctors or technicians will speak with you about how you’re doing and can advise you on proper instructions while you are recovering from surgery.

If you are experiencing an eye emergency (flashes and floaters, red eye, injury, etc) please call our office. We will have one doctor here each day to see patients. If you need a temporary refill on your glasses or contact lens prescriptions, need to order contacts, or need a refill on your medication, please call our office. Our staff will be happy to assist you.

Our optical will be closed during this time. If you have glasses on order, they will be mailed to you when they arrive. If you have a specific question or concern for our optical, please call the office.

Please be advised that we will be working with a limited staff and may not be able to answer phones as quickly as usual. If we do not answer, please leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible. You may also message the office through your patient portal.

We thank you for your continued understanding during these uncertain times. We will continue to update you as we follow recommendations from the CDC. Please continue to practice daily prevention measures and stay home as much as possible.

We understand the growing concern surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) across our community. The health and safety of our patients, doctors, and staff is our top priority. Diagnostic Eye Center has been preparing to identify possible affected patients to prevent transmission to others, as well as ways to keep our office as sterile as possible. We continue to review our practices daily and will make appropriate changes as the situation evolves.

Based on current guidance and our own standards and practices, we remain open and ready to provide exceptional patient care.

Patients with Upcoming Appointments

If you have traveled internationally, traveled on a cruise ship, have been exposed to someone with possible or confirmed COVID-19 in the last 14 days, or are experiencing any of the symptoms below, we must reschedule your appointment for a later date.

Shortness of breath

Please call our office, and our staff will reschedule your appointment.

If you are experiencing an eye emergency, please call our office. Our staff will discuss with our doctors to determine the proper course of action.

If you need refills on prescription medications or updated glasses and contact lens prescriptions, we will be happy to assist you. We can have contact lens orders shipped directly to your home to avoid a visit to the office.

We ask that if you need a caregiver or family member to accompany you to your appointment that you limit this to only one person. That person will be required to stay in the room with you throughout your visit.

How is Our Staff Being Trained?

Our staff has been trained in infection control practices, standard precautions, and proper hand hygiene.

How is Diagnostic Eye Center monitoring the situation?

As the situation evolves, we are keeping up with and following the recommendations of the CDC, WHO, and state and local health departments

How is Diagnostic Eye Center preparing for COVID-19?

Our main concern is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our patients and staff by preventing the spread of the infection at our office.

We are continuously monitoring, reviewing, and improving our response as the situation evolves. We are keeping all employees updated with any new recommendations for preventing the spread of Coronavirus.
We are encouraging sick employees to stay home.

We are thoroughly disinfecting exam rooms after every patient encounter and are limiting the number of patients in our waiting room to keep patients as isolated as possible. We have also removed all magazines from our reception area.

We hold all of our doctors and staff to the highest standard of frequent hand washing with soap and water and using effective hand sanitizers.

COVID-19 Symptoms

Signs and symptoms may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure and can include:

Dry cough
Shortness of breath

The severity of symptoms can range from very mild to severe. The elderly and others who have existing medical conditions may be at higher risk of serious illness.

Practice Daily Prevention

Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Stay home when you are sick
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the restroom, before handling contact lenses, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
Avoid sharing dishes, glasses, bedding, and other household items if you’re sick
