Ortho-K :: Orthokeratology Ortho-K is a non-surgical alternative to surgery. Those interested in the reduction of myopia and astigmatism, but are wary about the surgery now have a safe and effective alternative.
Ortho-k- The concept and process of molding the cornea has been available since 1962. What is new is the Ortho-K design and computerized corneal mapping. Ortho-K contact lenses custom shape the unique patient's cornea using a CAD / CAM (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing) and then the CNC lathe production process with an accuracy of 0.1 microns is new . Dr. Pedro Gomez has been overseeing the development of these developments and has completed extensive training to ensure the success of our patients. Ortho-K es el proceso no quirurgico que transforma (aplana) la cornea del ojo mediante el uso de lentes de contacto. La Ortho-K acelerada usa lentes de contacto de geometria inversa. Si la cantidad de aplanación corneal es controlada con precisión sera posible llevar al ojo al enfoque correcto compensado por la miopia. Luego de remover el lente de contacto la cornea permanecera en su forma aplanada por parte o el dia completo. Niños y adultos pueden ser tratados con Ortho-K porque el principio de aplanar la cornea es efectivo para ambos. Esto puede resultar en disminuir la prescripción de forma tal que el niño no tenga que usar los lentes gruesos que hubiera usado en su adolescencia. El Dr. Pedro Gómez ha estado supervisando el desarrollo de estos avances y ha completado una amplia capacitación para garantizar el éxito de nuestros pacientes.
