I love to celebrate every accomplishment and "win" that my clients get from their Feldenkrais experiences. Here's a participant from the recent online workshop that helped people to lengthen their hamstrings without stretching -- so they can walk, run, dance -- basically, do anything FUN -- with more ease and enjoyment, So happy that SHE is happy, and enjoying her daily walks!

Catch today's workshop! Online at 2 PM (CDT)

Your hamstrings are made up of three large muscles that run along the back of each thigh, from your knee to your sitting bone. They help you to bend, squat, walk, and run, and they also affect your posture. You know when you bend over at the waist and feel that pull on the back of your leg? THAT'S y...

If you've lost track of what day it is (like we have!), it's Friday. In the U.S., Monday is a federal holiday for Memorial Day. It's a perfect time to get on the floor for some luscious Feldenkrais movements. Those moments of pleasure boost your oxytocin levels -- the LOVE chemical. Apparently, binge watching emotional movies will do it, too! Wishing you an oxytocin-filled weekend!

During the pandemic, many Feldenkrais® students have continued to attend classes online. My students tell me they value the opportunity to maintain some consistency in their routines, and to have the variety of another activity to break up the time spent housecleaning, baking, napping, or watching Netflix. Those who are justifiably anxious and stressed rely on their Feldenkrais class to bring them into the present moment, to ground them in concrete experience, and to relieve muscular tension and stress. Join me to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a free movement lesson at 6 pm Central Time. Sadly, our 10th annual celebration of the birth of Moshe Feldenkrais (MOSHEPALOOZA) had to be postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak. But you know that you can't keep dedicated wigglers DOWN, am I right?
Dress comfortably for movement. Set up a mat on the floor and angle your camera so that your mat (and you) is visible on the screen. BYOB. Pinatas, PJ's, and Pets are welcome. Register here via Zoom -- you'll receive login details in your confirmation email, SO READ IT, please.

ABOUT RE-OPENING THE FELDENKRAIS CENTER OF HOUSTON

Thank you for asking! It's extremely gratifying to hear from so many clients and students who value the time spent in-person, at my office. I miss everyone terribly, and am eager to see you as soon as it is safe.

I'm doing my best to keep up-to-date with the statistics and trends, and recommendations from scientific and health-care experts. I've also been following recommendations from other professionals in similar work settings (massage and bodywork, universities, music studios) about how to prepare for re-opening. My decision as of May 1 is that I will continue all my services online for at least another two weeks.

My office space is clean and fresh, my linens are laundered conscientiously, and my office building has stringent sanitation practices in place. However, in good conscience, I can't guarantee absolutely safe and sterile conditions in my office. Therefore, I can't guarantee your safety - nor mine. You know my office is more like a living room - so, if I'm not inviting you to come to my home, I probably shouldn't see you at my office, either. Therefore, since I do have the option to work remotely, I think it's the only responsible and ethical way forward.

Thank you for sticking with me, and with your personal practices of movement and awareness. Updates will appear here on the page, as well as on the Feldenkrais Center of Houston website.

Stay safe and stay well!

I appreciate my colleague and friend Angela Alston at Dallas Feldenkrais for her deep and wise perspective on pretty much everything. Here's her latest reflection, which really resonated with what I'm currently experiencing. How about you?

%We're all in uncharted territory because of the coronavirus. Our daily routines don't work when we're sheltering in place. What do we do? Maybe the first step is to become calm. Take stock.
