ELC hosted an Encounter Weekend on the last weekend in June, which, despite venue challenges, was very impactful. There were around 100 men in attendance. One of the most pivotal moments was the giving and receiving of forgiveness by proxy after the session on forgiveness.
As volunteer mentors stood across from inmates, two sets of questions were asked: "Who am I?” and “What have I done to you?" Then the inmate shared their pain, and the mentor asked for forgiveness as a proxy. Then, the roles reversed with the proxy asking, "Who am I?” and “What have you done to me?" The inmate then shared the pain they caused to someone else and asked for the forgiveness of the proxy.
Some men were absolutely broken by the Spirit of God.
God moves every time.
