Soft Practices for Stressful Times

The pace of daily life often picks up without us realizing it. Schedules fill, responsibilities grow, and our minds feel pulled in a thousand directions. In these moments, it’s important to remember that healing doesn’t always come from doing more, but from softening, slowing, and simply allowing space to be.

At Bella Yoga, we believe in the power of gentle practices that calm the nervous system and nurture your whole being. These “soft practices” may look quiet on the outside, but their effects run deep—restoring us back to a state of peace and calm.

Nourishing Classes
Join us for Gentle Bliss and Yin + Restore. These simple and soft practices are designed to be medicine for stressful times. They invite you to soften, breathe deeply, and feel supported in community.

To support your wellbeing during the transition into fall, we are making a few gentle changes to our class schedule beginning September 1.

The Medicine of a Deeply Nourishing Savasana

If you have ever been to my classes, you know how much I love a long Savasana. Even in my own personal practice, I love the nourishment it brings to the busy-ness of life.

But what exactly is Savasana? And why does it matter—after all, aren’t we just lying there?

In yoga, every practice is designed to bring us into harmony. Savasana, the final posture of class, is often considered the most challenging pose because it requires stillness and surrender. Yet it is also the most essential.

Most of us live much of our lives in a constant state of stress, caught in what is known as the sympathetic nervous system—the body’s “fight or flight” response.

Add to that the endless stream of news, emails, phone notifications, and responsibilities, and it’s no wonder our minds and bodies feel inflamed and overwhelmed. Over time, this chronic state of stress contributes to fatigue, illness, and imbalance.

Savasana is medicine. It invites us into deep receptivity—a place of non-doing and non-reactivity. In this stillness, the body softens, the mind quiets, and we reconnect with the innate wisdom of rest.

Rest is not an indulgence; it is a necessity. When we allow ourselves to deeply rest, we create more space in our lives. We make clearer choices, nurture creativity, and become better listeners—not only to those we love but also to the quiet messages of our own body and heart.

Have you ever wanted to try yoga but thought “I won’t be good at it” or “I’m not flexible enough or strong enough”?

Stepping onto your yoga mat for the very first time can be intimidating.

Join us for a free 45-minute class designed especially for brand-new beginners. We will gently introduce simple movements, mindful breathing, and the basics of a yoga practice—all in a welcoming, non-intimidating space. This is a chance to ease into yoga at your own pace, with support and encouragement every step of the way.

Following the class, we will open the floor for a Q&A session so you can ask any questions you may have—about the practice, our studio, or how to get started.

Whether you’re looking to release tension in your body, calm your busy mind, or simply try something new, we invite you to take this first gentle step.
