Dr. Evan D. Collins - Houston Hand Surgeon Dr. Evan Collins is the hand, wrist and elbow Specialist at Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas Medical Center and Chief of the Hand & Upper Extremity Center.

He provides the latest treatments available in hand, wrist and elbow orthopedic care. Dr. Evan D. Collins is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in surgery of the hand. He received his M.D. degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn, NY, and an Executive MBA from Rice University, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Houston, TX. He joined the Department of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2005 and was named Chief of the Houston Methodist Hand & Upper Extremity Center in 2012 and Vice Chairman of the Houston Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine in 2013. Prior to joining Houston Methodist Hospital, he was Chief of the Hand Section and Director of the Hand Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Dr. Collins has extensive experience in hand and upper extremity surgery and is widely recognized as a published author - contributing to peer reviewed orthopaedic literature through his published work. He serves as a guest lecturer at orthopedic meetings nationally and has demonstrated surgical techniques in orthopedic surgical reference guides. As a Weill Cornell Faculty member in both the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, he has developed many of the educational rotations for Orthopedic, Plastic, and Neurosurgery surgical residents. In the last five years Dr. Collins has published many indexed studies - and three years ago was awarded a patent on an elbow ligament reconstruction system. Among the awards and honors accorded him, Dr. Collins received the Halliburton Hometown Hero Award for medical care of civilian workers’ injured in Iraq, the Hibbs Award for outstanding spinal research, the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the Jackson H. Stuckey Award for Outstanding Achievement in Surgical Research. Most recently he was featured in the Houston Chronicle for his innovative work with the Houston Methodist Center for Performing Arts Medicine. Dr. Collins treats common as well as complex injuries and conditions affecting all ages in our society - from the treatment of repetitive stress conditions to partial and total joint replacements.
