The Mission of the Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addiction (CNRA) at The University of Texas Medical School is to develop evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders using decisions informed by behavioral neurosciences. In pursuit of this mission the CNRA aims to:

Map out the neurological, behavioral, and clinical mechanisms that contribute to drug addiction
-Target key mechanistic processes in the development of substance use disorder treatment
-Evaluate treatment efficacy using innovative clinical trial designs and statistical methods

The CNRA consists of a multidisciplinary team of substance abuse researchers including addiction psychiatrists, addiction psychologists, addiction medicine specialists, licensed professional counselors, nurses, pharmacists, and research assistants. New at the CNRA is the opening of INNOVATIONS in Addictions Treatment, an outpatient clinic offering treatment for drug addiction, including smoking, alcoholism, use of illegal substances, and abuse of prescription medications.
