Feelings are like waves—you don’t stop them, you learn to ride them. Today, instead of shutting down your feelings, ask: “What are you here to teach me?”

Starting therapy can feel like stepping into a new world. You’re ready to take care of your mental health, but then comes the question: how do I pay for this? Therapy is an investment in yourself, but it can also be a bit of a maze when it comes to insurance. Don’t worry - I’m here to walk you...

Sleep isn’t laziness. Water isn’t optional. Movement isn’t punishment. Your basic needs aren’t “extras”—they’re mental health care.

MEET THE THERAPISTS!
Sarah Myers, LPC

Sarah Myers knows therapy isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about stepping into the hard stuff and finding strength you didn’t know you had. With a background in psychology and clinical counseling from the University of Houston, and years of experience working with kids and families, she brings both expertise and empathy to every session.

Sarah works with children, teens, and adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and life transitions. She uses play therapy with kids, practical strategies with adults, and always balances compassion with accountability. Her goal isn’t just to help you “get through” — it’s to help you thrive.

Outside the office, Sarah’s a Texan raised in a big, blended family, who loves animals, art, music, games, and even has a thing for wildflowers (especially dandelions). If you’re looking for a therapist who will truly see you and walk alongside you with honesty and care, Sarah might be the right fit.

MEET THE THERAPISTS
Ann Schroeder

Ann creates a safe place where people can finally breathe again. She believes everyone carries an inner strength and purpose—even when losses, transitions, or hurt make that feel buried. Her goal? Help you reconnect with who you are, and move toward your future with hope.

She works with adults and couples facing:
Relationship struggle
Anxiety & depression
Grief, loss & trauma
Caregiver burnout
Life changes (career, aging, etc.)

What makes Ann different:
A former leader in the oil & gas industry, she’s guided teams, mentored people—and brings that practical insight into therapy.

She’s volunteered with Star of Hope (helping women transition from homelessness) and supported families and caregivers in end-of-life care through Vantage Hospice. These experiences deepened her belief in resilience and human connection.

She customizes therapy: no cookie-cutter. Approaches are chosen based on you, not just the “diagnosis.”

Ann is married to her high school sweetheart; mom to a son and grandma to a granddaughter who lights up her life.

When she’s off-duty, you’ll find her traveling (camera in hand), learning new things, dancing, or doing whatever she can to keep growing.

Ready to work with Ann?
You don’t have to carry your load alone. Schedule a session and start reconnecting with who you are.

MEET THE THERAPISTS!
Ryan Brundrett, LPC

Ryan’s not here to just nod and say “there, there.” He’s here to listen, challenge, and help you find clarity — whether you're a kid, parent, couple, or flying solo. Because overlooked voices and unspoken feelings? Those are what complicate life, relationships, and mental health.

Ryan works with kids (3-14): He uses play therapy to give them ways to express what they can’t yet say. Behavior isn’t just “bad kid stuff” — it’s a signal. He digs into the reasons behind outbursts and emotional shutdowns.

With parents: He supports you in understanding your own feelings and their kid’s. Offers real tools, tailored to how you and your child are wired, not one-size-fits-all methods.

With couples & individuals: He uses a humanistic + existential blend. Meaning: he cares about your purpose, your core values, your goals. And yes, he’ll push you—because growth rarely happens in comfort zones. Also borrows behavioral strategies when useful for structure and momentum.

His style: clear, compassionate, straightforward. He won’t flatter your ego, but he’ll give you reasons to believe in your ability to change. Slow, sure work: emotional depth + practical technique.

Outside of sessions?

Ryan is a husband, father of three — so he’s got some real-world practice in the chaos & beauty of family life. He does serious recharge: basketball, swimming, backyard reading. Also a movie buff — indie, art-house, MCU, you name it. The theater is his escape hatch.

MEET THE THERAPISTS
Esmeralda Gonzalez

Esmeralda isn’t your surface-level counselor. She’s been doing this for nearly 20 years, working with kids (elementary through junior high) on the stuff no one taught them how to handle: anger, bullying, school anxiety, confidence, self-acceptance.

She’s also a hypnotherapist—with 10 years under her belt—helping folks break habits (think nail biting, bedwetting), manage test anxiety, handle weight issues, bolster motivation, and build self-love. Tools + support? Yeah, she knows that combo well.

She wants clients (kids, teens, adults) not just to get relief, but to feel stronger—more confident, happier, more in control.

Raised in Laredo, Texas; moved to Houston in 1990. Family is huge: three children, four grandchildren. She’s bilingual, served as a teacher, ESL instructor—so diversity, communication, and culture are real to her.

Always learning: from essential oils and aromatherapy to new seminars. She doesn’t believe in staying still.

If you’re feeling like some life tools are missing—if school, self-worth, confidence, motivation, or anxiety are weighing you down—Esmeralda might be the kind of guide who helps you put together your “life tool-belt.”

MEET THE THERAPISTS
Rebekah Puryear, LPC

Rebekah’s mission as a therapist is simple but powerful: to walk alongside you, help you set meaningful goals, and remind you of the strengths you might not see in yourself. She creates a steady, compassionate space where you can process life’s weight and move toward healing, confidence, and hope.

Her passion for counseling began with supporting teens struggling with depression, anxiety, and self-harm, and has grown to include work with adults navigating trauma, boundaries, relationships, self-esteem, and identity. For those who want it, she also offers faith-based counseling and has a heart for clients healing from religious trauma.

Rebekah is trained in EMDR for trauma recovery and the Gottman Method (Level 1) for couples work. She integrates evidence-based approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy with a collaborative, relational style.

When she’s not in session, you’ll find Rebekah traveling, baking, reading fiction, running, or binging true crime podcasts—with her cats providing equal parts comfort and chaos.

We’re so glad to have Rebekah on the Renewing Hope team!
