So this page has been quiet for 18 months. This is the original STEP Pediatrics PA page! After Covid, I sold STEP to Pediatric Associates after offering first to my physician colleagues. We have had lots of changes some positive some not. We have said good bye to some long time staff and said hello to new staff. Growing pains and change are hard! The people that made STEP were all of us… patients, families, staff, and colleagues all of whom are like family. I have shed tears over lost contracts and therefore loss of patients, but we will always have our friendships. Thank you to those who weathered the changes, and I am sorry to those who could not. I tried to remind my docs we are the same docs in a different house. However, this week put it all in perspective. You see I just got out of the hospital after a week stay for a very severe pneumonia and sepsis. During my stay I was a good patient with about every complication of my treatment I could get. I did not sleep for a week because they were hanging bag after bag of antibiotics and nebs and oxygen. But in the wee hours a sweet nurse and I talked about faith, healing, and hope. Another nurse said I comforted her with her decision she made for her health. Lastly, I did a consult for a colleague on a difficult teen situation. Through it all, friends called, PA checked in on me, patients rallied and saw the fill in provider whom I heard was excellent, and for the 1st time I did not worry about the “business.” In the end, I have come to relinquish my need to control…God has this all figured out. Floors may buckle, and things may not be just as they were, but together we will get the job done. Many of my staff family who were let go or left in frustration with the change over called, visited and supported. We may not work together, but we are still family! Thank you for you kindness, understanding, and prayers. I will be back!
