We are committed to raising mental health awareness while connecting clients with clinicians. Melanin and Mental Health, Inc. is dedicated to transforming mental health care for Black and Latinx/Latine communities by connecting individuals with therapists who share similar cultural experiences. We work to normalize therapy and promote mental wellness through our content, therapist directory, resou

rces, and events. Our mission is to create safe, courageous spaces where healing and open conversations about mental health can happen. We also empower clinicians to bring their full selves into therapy, advocating for antiracist practices and increased representation in mental health care. It's time to turn towards each other, strengthening our communities and supporting one another through the highs and lows. Let's use this time to focus on connection and the power of collective care.

Here are some ways we can collectively manage the stress of this election season:

Host a virtual check-in with friends & family: Create a safe space to express emotions and listen to each other. Sometimes, just being heard can make all the difference.

Join a support group: Find a community that understands the stress you're feeling. Shared experiences can remind us we're not alone.

Organize an “unplug” day: Set aside a day to disconnect from the news and social media. Use this time to focus on connecting with loved ones.

Engage in community service: Helping others is a powerful way to relieve stress and feel empowered. Find local opportunities that align with your values.

Practice group mindfulness: Meditate or practice breathing exercises with friends or family. Mindfulness can help everyone stay grounded and reduce anxiety.

Attend a group therapy session: Connect with a therapist as a group to process feelings collectively. Group therapy can foster a sense of support and understanding.

Limit news to specific times: Try setting specific times to check the news and avoid constant updates. This can reduce stress and help maintain focus on positive connections.

Melanin & Mental Health™ was created by two therapists who wanted to find out where we could connect with all the other local therapists who care about our Black & Latinx communities. Before we knew it, the word about what we were doing had spread and a national directory of therapists was formed.

Melanin & Mental Health™ is passionate about raising mental health awareness in our communities. We want people to know that Therapy is Dope when you have a Dope Therapist! We spread this message online with our social media accounts, website, and our official Therapy is Dope Merchandise sold in our online Melanin & Mental Health™ shop.

We won’t stop until we change the face of psychotherapy on both sides of the couch.
