What to Expect During Your Home Infusion Treatment

Starting home infusion therapy? Here’s what you can expect so you feel comfortable and confident every step of the way:

1. Nurse Arrival & Setup:
A licensed infusion nurse will arrive at your home at your scheduled time, set up a clean and safe area, and review your treatment plan with you.

2. Safety Checks:
We’ll verify patient information, your physician’s orders, and check vital signs before, during and after the infusion. Your comfort and safety are our top priorities.

3. Infusion Begins:
The medication is administered via IV, port, or catheter — depending on your therapy type. While you are receiving your infusion, you can relax, read, or watch TV.

4. Monitoring & Support:
Your nurse will stay with you during the infusion and for a short period after to monitor for any side effects or reactions. You’re never alone in this process.

5. Post-Treatment Wrap-Up:
Once the infusion is complete, your nurse will clean up the area, provide aftercare instructions, and confirm your next scheduled visit (if applicable).

Every step of your infusion appointment is designed with your safety, comfort, and care in mind. 💙

If you’re scheduled for an infusion in one of our infusion suites or want to know more, here is a quick look at what you can expect at your visit so you can feel prepared and comfortable:

💬 Check-In: Our friendly front desk team will greet you as you walk in and answer any initial questions you may have as you sign in.
🚪Private Suite: You and your guest (s) will be guided to your private infusion suite which has been carefully sanitized and prepared for your arrival.
🩺 Pre-Infusion Assessment: A nurse will check your vitals and complete a full assessment to ensure everything is good to go.
👨‍⚕️IV Placement: We’ll gently place an IV line in your arm, which is the most common way to administer IV medication.
👨‍🔬Medication Preparation: Once your IV line is in place, a nurse or pharmacist will prepare your medication for infusion.
🛋️ Relax & Receive: IV Infusions can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. You’ll be in a comfortable recliner with heating features, a blanket and a pillow. Enjoy complimentary amenities like Wi-Fi, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ , snacks and drinks.
👩‍⚕️ Monitored Care: Throughout your infusion, a nurse will check in frequently to monitor your response and make sure you are comfortable. You'll also have access to a call button at any time if you need assistance.
✅ Aftercare: Once your infusion is done, we’ll check your vitals again and make sure you’re feeling well before you head home.

What is Infusion Therapy?
Infusion therapy is a safe and effective method of delivering medications and nutritional support directly into the bloodstream, either through intravenous (IV) infusion or subcutaneous injection. It is often used when oral medications are not effective or possible — providing a faster and more controlled delivery of treatment.

Infusion therapy is used to manage chronic conditions and treat severe infections. Common treatments include:

Biologics- Used to treat chronic and severe conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

Immunoglobulins (IVIG)- Administered to support the immune system in individuals with immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases, or inflammatory conditions.

Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)- Provides essential nutrients intravenously for patients who cannot process food and absorb nutrients normally through the digestive tract.

Antibiotics- For serious infections that require strong or continuous dosing.
