It's tough when your college-bound kids leave the nest, but what's even tougher is navigating their first-year emotions from afar. As parents, we're not only dealing with our own feelings of grief and pride, but we're also the sounding board for all their new decisions.

It's normal to feel overwhelmed when your student calls about rush week drama, friendship troubles, or academic pressure. Remember, your role is to listen and support without taking on their stress as your own. You've got this!

Confession: I made my daughter's sorority choice about Me 🤦‍♀️
Everyone thought she'd pick the 'obvious' sorority. I had opinions. She had different ideas. Instead of supporting HER vision, I steered her toward mine.

Then came the tearful phone call where she was torn between two houses... and I realized I'd made HER experience about MY fears and expectations.

Here's where we get it wrong: We call alumni, try to manipulate outcomes, ask leading questions - all because we're worried about what people will think.

The hard truth? When our kids are sobbing over decisions, sometimes it's because they're trying to balance their heart with our pressure.
