I Just Can't Help It!
I can’t help it — every time I watch Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot, I’m touched, inspired, moved… and also reminded that I should probably start working out. I mean, have you seen those muscles? If I had a dime for every time I thought about getting in shape while eating popcorn, I could hire my own personal trainer — who I would then promptly ignore while binge-watching more superhero movies! :-)
But muscles aside, what really grips me isn’t the action scenes or the flawless costumes. It’s the undercurrent of love running through the story — the kind that makes you stop, breathe, and remember what matters most.
I am Touched by the love that is present in the movie: the love of men for their brothers; the love of a man for a woman; the love of man for his country.
I am Moved by the quiet, unshakable courage it takes to put another’s well-being above your own. The moments when love calls us to risk comfort, safety, or even our lives for someone else’s tomorrow.
I am Inspired by how, time and again, we choose light over shadow; the harder right over the tempting wrong.
And then I am Reminded. I am reminded that we are all here on this planet learning our own individual lessons. And that one lesson isn't any better than another. That the lessons we chose are not all light and flowers. Some of us chose the really hard lessons, and I am reminded to acknowledge the courage it takes for them to stay the course. And I am reminded to thank them for the lessons we are learning from their experiences.
And I am further reminded that just believing that Love is the answer may not be sufficient. I am reminded that action is required. The action of choosing Love in the face of anger, fear, and confrontation. Choosing Love over being right and righteous. It’s choosing love when it’s the hardest choice in the room.
And most importantly, I am reminded that I can tell anyone anything if where I come from is love.
Light and love!
