The most recent "BMG (Belliare, Meyerland, and Galleria) Referral Senior Network" gathering demonstrated why community partnerships are so important. Families navigating senior care decisions deserve access to knowledgeable professionals who understand their unique needs.

Special shoutout to Senior Living Specialists Wendy Johnstone and Lori Farris for presenting at the meeting.

The 2025 LWI Annual Fashion Show & Luncheon brought together community members to commemorate three decades of impact by Latin Women's Initiative.

This year’s event was led by Co-Chairs Julie Garza and April Ramirez Fabre, with Lisset Garza and Naimeh Salem recognized as Honorary Co-Chairs for their longstanding contributions to the Latino community.

For 30 years, Latin Women’s Initiative has helped underserved communities by funding partner nonprofits and volunteering time toward its mission: to empower and support Latin women and children.

We’re proud to support the mission of LWI and remain committed to advancing efforts that create lasting impact for women and children.

Lastly, we want to thank you Jackie Lynn Garcia for including us and for her meaningful work as a member of the LWI board.

From Steve Gilbert-

“When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.”
-- Anonymous

“Life changes in an instant. One phone call, one visit to the doctor…nothing is guaranteed.

That shouldn’t discourage us or make us sad, but rather encourage us to put things in their proper perspective, to treasure the moments that we have with people we love and care about.

I remember two of my dad’s favorite phrases:

“It’s about people, son.”
“Nothing lasts longer than a happy memory.”

Today, remember to value the people in your life who have been your supporters and let them know what they mean to you. Don’t hold back.”

A few days ago, we had the privilege of attending the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce's (GHWCC) "The Symposium for Women Shaping Houston’s Skyline" at Hotel Zaza Memorial City. The sold-out event brought together professionals from architecture, construction, real estate, and urban planning to celebrate the women and companies redefining Houston’s skyline.

A highlight was the panel on corporate culture, featuring insights from Murphy Oil Corporation’s President and CEO, Eric Hambly and Vice President of Human Resources & Administration, Maria Martinez, who also serves as GHWCC’s 2024 Chair of the Board. Their discussion underscored the importance of values-driven leadership in shaping organizational culture.

The symposium also honored Deputy Constable Sheila Jones, recognizing her strength and dedication to the community following a recent tragic incident.

Thank you to MetroNational for hosting this impactful event and to all who contributed to its success.

A Sacred Choice joined the Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce: "Love What You Do" (LWYD) program, a mentorship and job-shadowing initiative designed to guide young women as they take their first steps toward professional success.

From February to May 2025, female high school and college students have the chance to shadow professionals, gain firsthand career experience, and connect with accomplished women in business. Founded by Kristie Trice in 2015, this program continues to shape future leaders by providing real-world exposure and mentorship.

This initiative not only supports students but also creates valuable opportunities for mentors to share their expertise and recruit emerging talent. Thank you Brandee Rogers and Kelly Collins for your leadership in making this program a success.
