Today is National Jelly Bean Day! Of course we are taking part, here at Willow Care Cottages Champions.

Jelly beans are small, bean-shaped sugar candies with soft shells and a chewy, gelatinous center. They are known for their vibrant colors and wide variety of flavors. Jelly beans are a popular treat, particularly around Easter, and are even part of some people's diets as a source of quick energy or a sugar kick.

Here are some interesting facts about jelly beans:

History and Origin:
Jelly beans may have originated in the 1860s when a Boston candymaker urged people to send them to Union soldiers during the Civil War.
They became popular around Easter in the 1930s, likely due to their egg-like shape.

Production:
Making a jelly bean takes about 7-21 days.
The "panning" process is used to create the outer shell, coating the jelly in successive layers of sugar and coloring.
Beeswax is used to help create the hard outer shell of the jelly bean.
Flavors and Production Numbers:
Jelly Belly produces over 100 different flavors.
They can produce 1,680 jelly beans per second, amounting to 15 billion per year.
