SSHP at UH College of Pharmacy We offer unique opportunities to UHCOP students to learn about health-system pharmacy and prepare for post-graduate residency training!

UH Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists is the student chapter of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists (TSHP), and the Gulf Coast Society of Health System Pharmacists (GCSHP). Our local chapter is nationally recognized by ASHP due to all our wonderful events and members! Our organization represents areas outside the tradit

ional (retail) pharmacy environment. These areas include but are not limited to: clinical pharmacy, inpatient and outpatient clinics, hospital pharmacy administration, home infusion, academia, managed care, long-term care facilities, health maintenance organizations, etc.

APhA x SSHP are collaborating to have a Spring Garage Sale! 

Are you in need of a new coat to keep that pristine white shine? Or maybe a sleek soft shell black jacket to wear during rotations? Or even a cute tote bag to carry your things around? Then this garage sale is the perfect time for you to shop!

We will be selling a bunch of items that we have been selling year round in one big sale! There are some additional items that we will be selling that are not included in this form, so please stop by and take a look at the items we have for sale!

Houston Methodist Hospital Power Week applications are now OPEN 🤩 This is a great opportunity to shadow and network with clinical pharmacists.

Schedule:
- Dates: May 19 - May 23
- Time: 8:00 A.M – 1:30 P.M
 
Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program within Texas 
- Official documentation of completed COVID-19 3 series record
**Documentation will be requested through email upon notification of participation**
 
Application Information:
- Complete and submit the Houston Methodist Power Week Form
- Application deadline is Monday, April 28, 2025 @ 11:59 PM
- Only 40 applicants will be extended an onsite invitation 
- Notification of Power Week participation will occur by Monday, May 5, 2025

Join us for our Dinner with a Pharmacist to meet and network with Dr. Kathy Salinas. Space is limited!

Kathy Salinas holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and has extensive experience across various healthcare settings. She previously served as a Compliance Officer for the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) and currently focuses on Medication Safety and Drug Diversion Prevention at UTMB.

Her tenure at TSBP provided her with a deep understanding of pharmacy practice and regulatory compliance, where she played a key role in educating licensees. Kathy also collaborates closely with the DEA as a subject matter expert on non-therapeutic dispensing and has provided expert testimony in multiple federal trials.
When not at work, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and two small dogs.
