SSHP at UH College of Pharmacy We offer unique opportunities to UHCOP students to learn about health-system pharmacy and prepare for post-graduate residency training!

UH Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists is the student chapter of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists (TSHP), and the Gulf Coast Society of Health System Pharmacists (GCSHP). Our local chapter is nationally recognized by ASHP due to all our wonderful events and members! Our organization represents areas outside the traditional (retail) pharmacy environment. These areas include but are not limited to: clinical pharmacy, inpatient and outpatient clinics, hospital pharmacy administration, home infusion, academia, managed care, long-term care facilities, health maintenance organizations, etc.

Happy Antibiotic Awareness Week!!

This event is recognized from November 18th to the 24th by the CDC and WHO, and aims to increase understanding of antibiotic resistance and how interventions that we can make as both healthcare professionals and as members of our community.

This year’s theme is “Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance Takes All of Us,” and I hope that after this week, we will feel a little more empowered to make a difference, big or small, as antimicrobial stewards!

During this seminar, students were able to learn from different pharmacists and talk to multiple industry vendors, and listen in on so many insightful health-system pharmacy sessions! Congrats to the Class of 2029 who had the highest attendance, Kylie for winning a raffle prize and our President, Jeremy for winning Outstanding Student of the Year! We hope you learned a lot and take the insightful tips about the match process, the daily life of a resident and how to stand out during applications with you through your future!
