Whatever their childhood aspirations, we sure are glad they ended up as pediatricians.

In celebration of 30 years of Texas Children’s Pediatrics, we thought we’d take a trip down memory lane and ask our providers for their old grade school pics and what they wanted to be when they grew up.

And reminder: it’s not too late to get your well-child check before your little one’s first day of school! Make an appointment at the link: http://ms.spr.ly/6184s3wyy

Melatonin can be an effective sleep aid for kids—but it depends on how it’s used. 🤔

If your child occasionally has trouble sleeping through the night, a low-dose melatonin gummy can be helpful. However, if they’ve been struggling to sleep for weeks (or even months), talk with their pediatrician. They can help identify any underlying issues with your child’s sleep hygiene routine and find helpful solutions. They can even refer your child to our sleep medicine specialists, if needed.

Just remember that before giving your child any sleep aids or supplements, consult their pediatrician to ensure they’re receiving the proper dosage. 😴

30 years ago, Texas Children’s Pediatrics was born! 🥳

In the mid-1990s, Dr. Ralph Feigin reached out to a pediatrician he knew well, Dr. Morris Rosenthal, and his three brothers Dr. Paul Rosenthal, Dr. Ben Rosenthal and Dr. Harry Rosenthal, and formed the first Texas Children’s Pediatrics location in Ashford.

(Fun fact: Dr. Morris Rosenthal had been one of Texas Children’s first residents when the hospital opened in 1954!)

Keep an eye out for more posts as we celebrate Texas Children’s Pediatrics all month long! 🎉

Not every child *loves* back-to-school season. And that’s okay. 🫶

Whether they’re nervous about starting a new school, whether they’ll make new friends or how their routine might change, there are small steps you can take now to help lessen their anxiety before their first day of class.

However, if these tips aren’t enough, consider scheduling an appointment with their pediatrician or mental health specialist. They can help get to the root of your child’s worries and offer more individualized advice.

Fact: Most inhalers are only good for about a year. 😬

If your little one has asthma, make sure you schedule their next wellness visit before the new school year. Our doctors will not only check their lung health, but they’ll determine whether an inhaler prescription renewal or adjustment is needed so your child can breathe easy this school year.

You can schedule your child’s wellness visit at our link:http://ms.spr.ly/6187sGXEf. However, if your child is experiencing a flare-up of their asthma symptoms, you can also walk into any of our Texas Children's Urgent Care locations for a same-day appointment.

The easiest eye care hack we know? Getting a breath of fresh air 👀

We know it’s hot out there, but giving your eyes something further away to focus on can help reduce the risk of Myopia (aka nearsightedness). Just be sure to use SPF and sunglasses to protect yourself from that strong Texas sun.

It's a good time to remind you to schedule your child’s optometrist appointment before the school year. And if a more pressing issue arises, we’ve got an expert ophthalmology department who can help 😎
