Our Story
I began my history as a peer counselor at the University of Puerto Rico, where I completed a degree in Fine Arts, that took me to Crearte to work as an afterschool teacher for high-risk students. I fell in love with the possibility of impacting other’s lives and decided to pursue a career in Mental Health. I completed my Master's Degree in Science of Counseling at University of Phoenix, Southern Arizona Campus, where I learned about the importance of integrated health, I also learned to advocate for our profession and the services that we can provide to a vast array of needs. Then I moved to Houston, TX, where I became a Licensed Profesional Counselor while working with victims of trauma.
I am Licensed Professional Counselor, in Texas and Puerto Rico, National Certified Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association. I am also a collaborator at CounselChat. During my career as a Counselor, I've worked in community organizations like Catholic Charities' St. Elizabeth's Health Center, Innovative Alternatives, United Way's Financial Opportunity Center and Legacy Community Health. I also assisted in providing emotional relief during community disasters trough multiple organizations like the Red Cross R3 Continuum and ASSMCA.
Latitude Counseling was a dream that began with my desire to help those looking to find a new direction and perspective in their life. As a Hispanic woman, who has lived in multiple environments and had confronted cultural challenges in life, I felt compelled to assist those who struggle through their immigration process and how have challenged in their careers and family settings. Since 2014 I opened my doors and have worked in integrating different modalities of therapy, to reduce possible obstacles for treatment. In the past two years (as I moved to and back from Puerto Rico) I have integrated Teletherapy and Outdoor therapy as part of my interventions.
