The Emotional Bank Account is a powerful concept in Gottman’s research, showing how trust and connection grow in relationships. Every act of kindness, appreciation, and support you give is a deposit, while criticism, neglect, or missed opportunities to connect are withdrawals.

What deposit can you make today to strengthen your bond? Want to learn more about how the Emotional Bank Account works? Learn more on our blog: https://bit.ly/4gLE9av

This week I had the honor to serve as a Mental Health Support for the Wounded Warrior Project Odyssey. We spend a whole week facilitating a Couple's Retreat focused on building a healthy relationship/marriage at Liberty Mountain Lodge Resort. The staff spoiled us with delicious meals, games and activities while we connected with each other and nature. But the best part was listening to the couples' journeys and meeting the dedicated WWP team. Every Oddysey has it's lessons and every location had it's story. I learned about Gettisburg, the battle, honor the contributors of past and present US history, learned LOTS more about Texans, unconditional love, Mental health works and partnerships. This was my private spring break, and I am sooo ready to go home.

Our Story

I began my history as a peer counselor at the University of Puerto Rico, where I completed a degree in Fine Arts, that took me to Crearte to work as an afterschool teacher for high-risk students. I fell in love with the possibility of impacting other’s lives and decided to pursue a career in Mental Health. I completed my Master's Degree in Science of Counseling at University of Phoenix, Southern Arizona Campus, where I learned about the importance of integrated health, I also learned to advocate for our profession and the services that we can provide to a vast array of needs. Then I moved to Houston, TX, where I became a Licensed Profesional Counselor while working with victims of trauma.

I am Licensed Professional Counselor, in Texas and Puerto Rico, National Certified Counselor and member of the American Counseling Association. I am also a collaborator at CounselChat. During my career as a Counselor, I've worked in community organizations like Catholic Charities' St. Elizabeth's Health Center, Innovative Alternatives, United Way's Financial Opportunity Center and Legacy Community Health. I also assisted in providing emotional relief during community disasters trough multiple organizations like the Red Cross R3 Continuum and ASSMCA.

Latitude Counseling was a dream that began with my desire to help those looking to find a new direction and perspective in their life. As a Hispanic woman, who has lived in multiple environments and had confronted cultural challenges in life, I felt compelled to assist those who struggle through their immigration process and how have challenged in their careers and family settings. Since 2014 I opened my doors and have worked in integrating different modalities of therapy, to reduce possible obstacles for treatment. In the past two years (as I moved to and back from Puerto Rico) I have integrated Teletherapy and Outdoor therapy as part of my interventions.
