Empowering Families Facing the Challenges of Dementia and Alzheimer's. Advancing Brain Health for All. Morning coffee/juice and snacks are also served.
Amazing Place's Dementia Day Program is led by a highly professional and compassionate staff that quickly recognizes the individual needs and abilities of our participants. The center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Both participants and caregivers have the option to select a schedule that best suits their needs. Located in the heart of Houston, the center provides a joyful environment of acceptance allowing all family members peace of mind. Amazing Place offers a variety of activities that build cognitive skills that can offset the effects of Alzheimer's disease and other related dementias. Our safe and welcoming environment encourages friendships, social activities, exercise and education. All staff and volunteers passionately promote self-efficacy. Our chef prepares a delicious and well thought out three-course lunch each day strictly following the guidelines of MPN (Memory Preservation Nutrition). Special events, like birthdays, are celebrated as a group and festive parties are planned for the holidays. Virtual classes and other online programming are available for those that cannot attend in person or prefer a hybrid solution customized to their unique needs. At Amazing Place, the Connections Program is devoted to supporting the well-being of our caretakers and community at large by offering a variety of classes and in-person services. Our mission is to empower lives disrupted by dementia. Amazing Place is a state-licensed, faith based non-profit organization governed by a board of directors with representatives from 16 Houston area churches.

We know that for many families, signs of cognitive decline may be noticed during the holidays when family members get together. This is a great article that appeared in USA Today about the 5 early signs and when to seek help from a healthcare professional.
Dementia is a syndrome caused by various brain diseases and disorders. Some of these causes are treatable, and all can benefit from intervention.

There is no gamesmanship here,” says Paul. “I do not have to hide who I am and no one judges me. This place has saved my life.” - Day Program participant
The blessings of Christmas live on all year at Amazing Place. We hear it every day in the voices of our caregiving families, our participants, those who attend our brain health sessions and our referring health providers. And it’s all possible because of your generosity. Thank you for extending the spirit of the holidays 365 days each year for so many in our community who are seeking brain health resources, connections and support. However you celebrate the season, our wish is that it is filled with peace, joy and hope for what is possible. Merry Christmas!

Christmas came early at Amazing Place with a generous donation from the local chapters of Daughters of the British Empire. We were honored to be selected as one of the charitable recipients for proceeds from their annual Bazaar which was in its 51st year! This incredible group of women with British ancestry🇬🇧believe in the importance of supporting senior causes and we are truly grateful! 💙

“[My husband] is happy to have this place where he can go and not be judged for his disease or what he can’t remember. He is happy there and can be the ‘life of the party’ again. Without Amazing Place, no doubt he would be lost. It’s a place he loves and I feel safe knowing he is there. Thank you for being a blessing to our family and considering us to receive scholarship assistance so my husband can continue to feel good about himself and learn how to enjoy life with Alzheimer’s.”
