Since 1994, El Centro de Corazón has been a trusted health home in Houston’s East End — providing compassionate, high-quality care to underserved, uninsured, and underinsured families.

From a small house offering early childhood intervention services to becoming an accomplished Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with two full-service locations, El Centro has grown into a cornerstone of community health.

Today, El Centro offers a comprehensive range of services that treat the whole person and the whole family, including:
👶 Pediatric & adolescent care
🤰 Women’s health & prenatal care
🦷 Adult & pediatric dental care
🧠 Adult & children’s behavioral health
📋 Case management & eligibility assistance
🌱 Wellness & prevention programs

All services are available in English and Spanish, and no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Sliding fee discounts are available to those who qualify.

Today was a special day at the Magnolia Center!
We had the honor of giving 65 turkeys to our seniors so they can enjoy a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones.

Too often, our seniors are forgotten during the holidays—but thanks to the support of generous community partners, El Centro de Corazón was proud to be one of the sponsors helping make today possible. Together with other supporters, we work every year to ensure our seniors feel valued, remembered, and cared for.

Type 2 diabetes often develops slowly — many people don’t notice symptoms for years.
Knowing your risk can help you take charge of your health. According to the CDC, you may be at higher risk if you:

💓 Have prediabetes
🩺 Are overweight
💓 Are 45 years or older
🩺 Have a parent or sibling with type 2 diabetes
💓 Are physically active less than 3 times a week

🎃 Trunk-or-Treat Fun at Denver Harbor! 👻

This past Saturday, El Centro de Corazón had an incredible time participating in the Trunk-or-Treat Family Festival at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center! 🧡

A huge thank-you to Elizabeth Marroquin for organizing this amazing event! Every year, she goes above and beyond — and this year was no exception. Families enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts, a train ride, and a costume contest for the kids. It was a fun and successful day for everyone!

Our El Centro team hosted an information table inside, engaging with families and sharing educational materials about Skin cancer prevention. After learning about the importance of early detection, interested participants were guided to the Eli Lilly and Company mobile unit outside, where our very own Dr. Young provided skin cancer screenings. We also offered free HIV and syphilis testing on demand throughout the event.

In total, El Centro de Corazón raffled and gave away 15 Houston Zoo tickets to three lucky families! Plus, everyone who attended received a Children’s Museum Family Pass — good for six people! 🦒🎨

Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with community engagement, education, and family fun. Thank you to all the partners and attendees who helped make this day so memorable! 💙

Our Story

Serving Houston’s East End community since 1994, El Centro de Corazón (El Centro) is an accomplished Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with four health center locations and offers a comprehensive range of pediatric and adult health care services for the medically underserved and uninsured, which includes primary care, women’s health, dental care, and behavioral health services. El Centro also provides ancillary services, such as case management and eligibility assistance, to help patients and their families overcome obstacles to accessing health care services.
