An 80-year-old grandfather quietly raising three children on his own—no income, just love and grit.
A mother of two battling cancer while facing the fear of losing her home.
A family of five, where a little boy’s Christmas wish wasn’t a toy or a screen—it was a blanket. When he held it up to his dad, his face lit up with pure joy, as if he had just been given the world.
Every year, Boris sees these families firsthand and decides to make a difference. This year, he sponsored more than double—22 families! And he didn’t stop there:
He brought Santa, an elf, and three students to sing Christmas carols, creating a magical holiday experience for the kids. A few families from the neighborhood even came by just to take a picture with Santa!
He reached out to friends, partners, and his team at SanMoore to help even more families.
For families without transportation, Boris and his team delivered gifts personally.
For a mom working and unable to pick up her family’s gifts, Boris ensured they made it safely to her apartment.
Because of his generosity and dedication, so many families are having a brighter, warmer Christmas this year. 🎄❤️

🎄✨ What an Incredible Christmas Posada at El Centro del Corazón! ✨🎄
This year, El Centro del Corazón truly hit a grand slam — one of our best Posadas ever! Our hearts are full after hosting an unforgettable celebration for our community. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners, leadership, staff, and volunteers, we were able to bring joy, warmth, and hope to hundreds of families during this holiday season. 💙
🎁 More than 1,000 toys were distributed to children
🧥 Winter jackets were given to families in need
🏛️ Children's Museum Houston family passes were shared

El Centro de Corazón is proud to have participated as a vendor at the 2025 Women in Agriculture Conference, hosted this year at Houston Community College – West Houston Institute by Urban Harvest, Inc.
This event brought together incredible women growers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from across Texas to celebrate their hard work and dedication. From food justice to business building, the conference was filled with powerful conversations, delicious food, and opportunities to learn and connect.
For us, this event means even more.

Today was a special day at the Magnolia Center!
We had the honor of giving 65 turkeys to our seniors so they can enjoy a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones.
Too often, our seniors are forgotten during the holidays—but thanks to the support of generous community partners, El Centro de Corazón was proud to be one of the sponsors helping make today possible. Together with other supporters, we work every year to ensure our seniors feel valued, remembered, and cared for.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, volunteered, and helped brighten this holiday season for the seniors at the Magnolia Center. Your generosity brings joy, hope, and connection to those who need it most.

🤰 What is Gestational Diabetes?
Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops only during pregnancy. Many women don’t notice any symptoms — it often shows up during the middle of pregnancy, which is why regular checkups are so important.
At El Centro, we’re here to support healthy moms and healthy babies. 💛

Type 2 diabetes often develops slowly — many people don’t notice symptoms for years.
Knowing your risk can help you take charge of your health. According to the CDC, you may be at higher risk if you:
💓 Have prediabetes
🩺 Are overweight
💓 Are 45 years or older
🩺 Have a parent or sibling with type 2 diabetes
💓 Are physically active less than 3 times a week

Serving Houston’s East End community since 1994, El Centro de Corazón (El Centro) is an accomplished Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with four health center locations and offers a comprehensive range of pediatric and adult health care services for the medically underserved and uninsured, which includes primary care, women’s health, dental care, and behavioral health services. El Centro also provides ancillary services, such as case management and eligibility assistance, to help patients and their families overcome obstacles to accessing health care services.

Our Call Center personnel are available to you from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If you call after-hours, you will reach our call service and they will be able to assist you. If you believe you may be experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately.
