Barring a fracture or some severely unstable condition, you should NOT abstain from physical activity. Movement IS medicine - it’s cliche because it’s true.
The key is incorporating the RIGHT movements at the RIGHT frequency or dosage. This is where many make mistakes. You get injured and rush back into the workouts and volume you were at instead of weaning back.
It’s better to be safe than sorry. You can always add more, but if you overdo it off the bat you’ll have to wait for the pain and inflammation to simmer down. Before you know it, you’re modifying and scaling for months opposed to days or weeks.
Important to note: modifying doesn’t mean there’s ZERO pain or discomfort. I tell my patients to keep the pain/discomfort under their 5/10. Everyone’s pain scale is different, this is YOUR 5/10.
