Welcome to the world, baby Vasurajah! Born at home at 4:18 pm today, he weighed 5 lb 15 oz and was 19 inches long. At almost two weeks early, he was in a hurry to come earthside and didn’t want to wait for the midwife to get there. His papa and big brother did an amazing job helping his strong mama bring him into the world. Congratulations, mama K and papa S! 🩵

Alyse Ogletree, a 36-year-old from Flower Mound, Texas, has indeed set a new Guinness World Record by donating 2,645.58 liters of breast milk, surpassing her own 2014 record of 1,569.79 liters.

Her donations, primarily to the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas, have helped nourish an estimated 350,000 premature babies, as each liter can feed approximately 11 preterm infants.

Ogletree began donating in 2010 after her first son, Kyle, was born and she noticed she was producing an unusually large amount of milk.

She continued donating after the births of her other sons, Kage and Kory, and as a surrogate mother.

Her dedication, supported by a strict pumping schedule, healthy diet, and hydration, highlights her commitment to helping others despite not having a medical condition to explain her overproduction.

She’s also donated to Tiny Treasures Milk Bank and friends, with an estimated total of over 126,000 ounces.

Her story inspires many to consider breast milk donation as a way to support fragile infants.

During Miami Swim Week, model and new mom Mara Martin made global headlines by boldly walking the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway while breastfeeding her 5-month-old daughter. Wearing a stunning gold bikini, Mara carried her baby—who wore protective blue earmuffs—down the catwalk, earning a standing ovation and creating one of the most powerful viral moments in fashion.

Hailing from Michigan, Mara was one of only 16 finalists selected to walk the exclusive show at W South Beach, making her runway debut unforgettable. In a heartfelt Instagram post after the show, she expressed her surprise at going viral for something she does daily, emphasizing her mission to normalize breastfeeding and celebrate the strength of motherhood.

Mara also honored her fellow trailblazing women on the runway—including a Paralympic athlete, a cancer survivor, and a military recruit—calling them true role models. Her empowering walk wasn’t just about fashion—it was a statement of resilience, motherhood, and breaking societal norms.

Please don't be timing contractions that are more then 10 minutes apart. GO TO SLEEP!!! Missing that first night of sleep when you think labor is starting is so detrimental to getting the job done.

"Midwifery models of care are models of care in which the main care providers for women and newborns, starting from pre-pregnancy and continuing all the way through the postnatal period, are educated, licensed, regulated midwives who autonomously provide and coordinate respectful, high- quality care across their full scope of practice, using an approach that is aligned with the midwifery philosophy of care, which:

i. promotes a person-centred approach to care;
ii. values the woman–midwife relationship and partnership;
iii. optimizes physiological, biological, psychological, social and cultural processes; and iv. uses interventions only when indicated.
In midwifery models of care, midwives provide integrated care, addressing the needs of each individual woman and newborn, within functional and enabling health systems, equipped with necessary resources and streamlined consultation and referral processes. They collaborate within networks of care as part of interdisciplinary teams characterized by equality, trust and respect. This approach guarantees that every woman and newborn receives personalized care, tailored to their health needs.

Midwifery models of care are adaptable to all levels of care and contexts, including home-, community- and hospital-based settings; the public and private sectors and public–private partnerships; resource-constrained environments; and humanitarian and crisis settings. This ensures wide accessibility, equity and relevance across different cultural contexts for women, newborns, partners, families and communities."
