CONGRATULATIONS HOUSTON HEAT! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Houston Heat had an incredible weekend at the Third Annual AAPI Heritage & Dragon Boat Festival, and we could not be more proud of everyone who represented the team!

A huge congratulations to Jelly Beans, our team made up of youth paddlers and newer paddlers, for bringing home Bronze in the Corporate/Community Division! What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Jelly Beans battled their way into the Grand Final with only 16 paddlers โ€” showing determination, teamwork, and heart every stroke of the way.

Congratulations as well to Houston Heat for earning Bronze in the Competitive Division! Out of 16 club teams, Houston Heat fought their way onto the podium against strong competition and showcased the grit and teamwork that defines our club.

This was a huge achievement for everyone who attended and represented Houston Heat. A special thank you to our coaches, paddlers, and supporters who showed up, gave their time and energy, and helped make this weekend such a success.

We are proud of the effort, the spirit, and the teamwork shown by all. Keep building, keep growing, and keep paddling forward!

๐Ÿ’ฅ Meet the future of Houston Heat!
Our first-ever full youth boat (ages 7โ€“18) hit the race course in Austin โ€” with a mix of first-time racers and returning paddlers โ€” and even took on adult teams. The heart, grit, and team spirit they showed? Incredible!

Huge thank you to all the parents for your support โค๏ธ

This is just the beginning!

Houston Heat at the Austin Dragon Boat Festival ๐Ÿ”ฅ

What a way to kick off the season โ€” and a special one at that as we celebrate our 20th anniversary! This year marked a huge milestone for Houston Heat, bringing three teams to Austin for the first time ever!

One of the biggest highlights was launching our very first HH Youth Team (ages 7โ€“18). Seeing the next generation out on the water representing Houston Heat was something truly special.

A huge shoutout to all of our new members who raced for the very first time โ€” you showed incredible team spirit, stepped up to the challenge, and got your first real taste of race day. That energy, excitement, and willingness to push yourselves is exactly what makes this team so special.

๐Ÿ Race Results:
๐Ÿฅˆ Starburst โ€“ Competitive Division A, 2nd Place
๐Ÿฅ‰ Jolly Rancher โ€“ Competitive Division B, 3rd Place
๐Ÿ… Gummy Bear (Youth Team) โ€“ Community/Corporate Division A, 4th Place

Weโ€™re also proud to have supported Blind Fury throughout the race โ€” and huge congratulations to them on their well-earned gold medal finish! ๐Ÿฅ‡

All in all, it was an intense, meaningful, and unforgettable first race of the season. From first-timers to veterans, youth paddlers to competitive crews โ€” this weekend showed exactly what Houston Heat is all about.

Hereโ€™s to an incredible start and an even bigger year ahead. Letโ€™s keep the momentum going! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This past Saturday, Houston Heat had the honor of supporting Lighthouse of Houstonโ€™s Blind Fury for their first on-the-water dragon boat practice of the season.

With sights set on competing at the Austin Dragon Boat Festival on April 25, 2026, these determined visually impaired paddlers took an important step forward this past Saturday.

Despite the rain and wet conditions, Blind Fury enjoyed their first and only real opportunity to be together on the water, in the same boat, building rhythm, trust, and connection โ€” and they made the most of every moment.

We are incredibly proud of our Houston Heat volunteers who showed up, supported, paddled, and helped create a welcoming and empowering experience. From loading and unloading boats to sharing knowledge and encouragement, they were truly EXCELLENT ambassadors of our community.

๐Ÿ‘ Thank you to our volunteers:
Andrew Lavinsky, Ann Wong, Carsten Brown, Chloe Ho, Damon Chik, Denise Monroe, Dylan Lovell, Gabriela Bocchini, Grace Tsai, Ha Nguyen, Jaidon Damschen, Joel Castaneda, Maria Buenabad, Owen Chik, Virginia L Rodriguez, Zhiyi Chen

Your time, energy, and heart made a lasting impact.

Weโ€™re excited to see Blind Fury continue to grow and take on Austin later this month.๐Ÿ”ฅ

How do you begin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Houston Heat? You go all out in grand style and host the 2026 Texas Paddling Clinic! What a weekend it was! Over 130 paddlers joined in the 4 day event!
Now that the water has settled and the boats are drying out, we want to thank all of those who traveled from all over to participate in the first event of this kind here in Texas! A big shout out goes to Coaches Tek Li, Lily Ting , Mary Tran, Kitt Noythanongsay, Jeffrey Wong and our very own, Jackson Lau for all the knowledge and passion they brought to the event! Also a big thanks to Sheena Chang, Alex Chen, Ben Choi, Frank Butcher, Ha Nguyen, Andy Thomas, Mike Nguyen and Jeff Gee for steering all 7 boats on the water throughout the event. The event will definitely be the talk of the community for a long time!
